I spent a day travelling and needed something easy to do so I made this baby blanket and decided to decorate it with these unicorn and rainbow appliques.
For the blanket I used 3 200g balls of Bendigo Woollen Mills 8 ply luxury yarn in Baby Blossom. A crochet hook, I used a 5mm hook. 5 unicorn appliqués and 4 rainbow appliqués all made using 2 ply cotton. I used Thread and needle to stitch the appliqués to the blanket and Scissors.
I used my baby blanket pattern for the blanket and made it 78 centimetres wide by 92 centimetres long or 30″ wide by 36″ long.
I added a simple edge to the blanket of 1 single crochet in each stitch around except the corner stitches where I worked 3 single crochet in each stitch. For the 2nd row I worked 1 single crochet in each 2nd stitch with 2 chain between each single crochet.
I pinned the appliqués to the blanket but they’re not very even because my dog Molly tried to help and I forgot to adjust them before stitching them down.
I stitched the appliqués to the blanket using sewing thread and a needle.
And there’s the finished unicorn baby blanket. I hope that you’ve enjoyed it. Have a look at some of my towels including the farm animal towel, the woodland animal towel, the sea towel and the flamingo towel.
