Welcome to my crochet schnauzer pattern. This pattern was another request. This is what the finished schnauzer applique will look like.

Crochet Schauzer Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- dtr – double treble crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colours (393) Charcoal, (106) Snow White, (074) Mercury, (110) Black and (398) Colonial Rose.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
- Scissors.
- Sewing thread and a needle to stitch the schnauzer together.
Size
Large Schnauzer (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
17cm wide x 25cm high or 6.5” wide x 9.75” high
Medium Schnauzer (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
10cm wide x 16cm high or 4” wide x 6.25” high
Small Schnauzer (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
9cm wide x 12.5cm high or 3.5” wide x 5” high
Head
Using (393) Charcoal work 8 ch.
Row 1: Work 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in each of next 2 sts, 1 tr in following st, 1 htr in each of next 2 sts, 1 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (15 sts)
Rows 6-8: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 9: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 3 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 3 sts, a joined dc over last 3 sts. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 10: 1 ch, work 3 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 3 dc in last st. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 11: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 12: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (17 sts)
Row 13: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (17 sts)
Row 14: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 15: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 16: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 17: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, 1 htr in each of following 2 sts, 1 tr in each of next 3 sts, 1 htr in each of following 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st to 2 sts after row with 11 sts, 2 ch, 1 tr in same st as ch, 3 ch, sl st in same st as tr, 1 sl st in each st to 2 rows before row with 11 sts, 3 ch, 1 tr in same st as ch, 2 ch, sl st in same st as tr, sl st in each st to end of row. Fasten off.
Right Ear
Join (393) Charcoal 6 sts up from fur piece where shown.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc in same st as join, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of following 3 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 4 sts, 3 dc in next st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 3: (3 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in last ch, sl st in 1st st) 2 times, 1 dc in each of last 6 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 4: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each of 1st 3 sts, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 6: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each of next 2 sts, (a joined dc over next 2 sts) 2 times. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Fasten off.
Neatening Row
Join (393) Charcoal to 1st st of ear on wrong side.
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st to 1st fur piece. Fasten off.
Left Ear
Join (393) Charcoal to 1st st after fur piece.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc in same st as join, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in following st, 1 dc in next st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 3 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 6 sts, (3 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in last ch, sl st in last st) 2 times. 2 ch, sl st in last dc of row 3.
Row 4: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 1 htr in each of last 3 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, a joined dc over next 2 sts, 1 htr in each of following 2 sts, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 7: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Fasten off.
Neatening Row
Join (393) Charcoal to wrong side near top fur pieces.
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around ear to fur piece at bottom. Fasten off.
Muzzle
Using (106) Snow White work 4 ch.
Row 1: Work 2 htr in 3rd ch from hook, 2 htr in last ch. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to end. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 4: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each of next 2 sts, 3 htr in last st. Fasten off.
2nd Side
Join (106) Snow White to back loop of ch of row 1 of 1st side.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 2 htr in same st as join, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to end. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 4: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each of next 2 sts, 3 htr in last st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st along bottom to 1st st of row 4 of 1st side, (2 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next st) repeat across the end of row 4, 1 sl st in each of next 4 sts along top, 3 ch, miss 1st ch, work 1 sl st in each remaining ch, 1 sl in each st to even with last 3 ch piece, 3 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each remaining ch, 1 sl st in each st to 1st st of row 4, (2 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next st) repeat across the end of row 4. Fasten off.
Eyes (Make 2)
Using (110) black make a magic loop.
1 ch, work 5 dc in circle, pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Nose
Using (110) Black work 4 ch.
Work 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 htr in next ch, 1 dc in last ch. Fasten off.
Tongue
Using (398) Colonial Rose work 4 ch.
Row 1: Work 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 tr in next st, 1 dc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
Face Marking
Using (074) Mercury work 6 ch.
Miss 1st ch, work 1 sl st in each of next 4 ch, 2 ch, 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in same st, sl st in last ch, (2 ch, 1 sl st in last ch, sl st in last of original ch) 2 times, 1 sl st in back loop of next original ch, 2 ch, 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in same of original ch, sl st in each st to end. Fasten off.
Right Eyebrow
Using (074) Mercury work 5 ch.
Work 1 sl st and 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook. Fasten off.
Left Eyebrow
Using (074) Mercury work 5 ch.
Miss 1st ch, work 1 sl st in each st to last st, 1 htr in last st. Fasten off.
Beard
Using (106) Snow White make a magic loop.
Row 1: 3 ch, work 3 tr in circle. Pull circle tight. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: 2 ch, work 2 htr in each st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 4: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 2 sts, a joined htr over last 3 sts. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 5: 2 ch, work a joined htr over the 4 sts. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
Body
Using (393) Charcoal work 11 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn. (10 sts)
Rows 2-3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (14 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (16 sts)

Join (393) Charcoal to st after 1st leg on wrong side.
Row 1: 1 ch, work a joined dc over next 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (17 sts)

Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 6 sts. Turn. (6 sts)

Join (393) Charcoal to last st where shown.

Rows 2-3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 6 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
Turn work before neatening row.
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
Near Front Foot
Using (106) Snow White work 6 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn. (5 sts)
Rows 2-5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (5 sts)

Far Front Foot
Using (106) Snow White work 7 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn. (6 sts)
Rows 2-5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in last st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Embroider a white dot on each eye.
Stitch the tongue to the beard.
Sew the beard in behind the muzzle.
Stitch the face marking in behind the top of the muzzle.
Attach the muzzle to the face.
Stitch the ears down.
Sew the eyes to the head.
Attach the nose where shown.
Stitch the eyebrows above the eyes.
Sew the head to the body.
Embroider markings on feet.
Attach the feet in behind the legs.
