Welcome to my crochet grapes pattern. This is another request that I received. This is what the finished bunch of grapes applique will look like.

Crochet Grapes Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- dtr – double treble crochet
Materials Used
- Crochet cotton or wool, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush 2 ply crochet cotton colours (113) Delphinium, (521) Deep Violet if desired for neatening row for grapes, (162) Black Coffee and (606) Grass Green.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- Scissors.
- Darning needle to weave in ends.
- Sewing thread and needle to stitch the bunch of grapes together.
Size
Large grapes (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
15cm x 19cm or 6” x 7.5”
Medium grapes (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
10cm x 10cm or 4” x 4”
Small grapes (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
7cm x 8.5cm or 2.75” x 3.5”
Large Grape (Make 6)
Using (113) Delphinium make a magic loop.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc, 1 htr, 1 tr, 1 htr and 1 dc in circle, pull circle tight. Turn
Row 2: 2 ch, work 1 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 1 htr in last st. Turn.
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn.
Row 4: 3 ch, work a joined tr over all the sts. Fasten off if using a darker colour for the neatening row.
Neatening Row
Join (521) Deep Violet to any st.
I worked 1 sl st in each st around but you could work 1 dc in each st if you prefer. Fasten off.
Small Grape (Make 4)
Using (113) Delphinium make a magic loop.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc, 1 tr and 1 dc in circle. Pull circle tight. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn.
Row 3: 2 ch, work a joined tr over the 3 sts. Fasten off if using a darker colour for the neatening row.
Neatening Row
Join (521) Deep Violet to any st.
I worked 1 sl st in each st around but you could work 1 dc in each st if you prefer. Fasten off.
Medium Grape (Make 7)
Using (113) Delphinium make a magic loop.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc, 2 tr and 1 dc in circle. Pull circle tight. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn.
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn.
Row 4: 2 ch, work a joined tr over the 4 sts. Fasten off if using a darker colour for the neatening row.
Neatening Row
Join (521) Deep Violet to any st.
I worked 1 sl st in each st around but you could work 1 dc in each st if you prefer. Fasten off.
Leaf
Using (606) Grass Green make a magic loop.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 1 htr, 3 tr and 1 htr in circle, pull circle tight. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 2: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, a joined dc over following 2 sts. Turn.
Row 8: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts and a joined dc over same st as last part of joined dc and last st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 9: 3 ch, work a joined htr and dc over the 2 sts. Fasten off.
Join (606) Grass Green to last st worked of row 7.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc in same st as ch, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts and a joined dc over same st as last part of joined dc and last st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 7: 2 ch, work a joined tr and dtr over the 2 sts. Fasten off.
Join (606) Grass Green to last st worked of row 3 where shown.
Row 1: 1 ch, work a joined dc over same st as ch and next st, 1 dc in following st, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts and a joined dc over same st as last part of joined dc and last st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work a joined htr and tr over the 2 sts. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
Work 1 sl st in each of next 2 sts, (2 ch, 1 htr in same st as last sl st, 1 sl st in each of next 3 sts) 2 times, 1 sl st in each st to 4 sts after bottom point, (1 htr in next st, 2 ch, sl st in same st as htr, sl st in each of next 2 sts) 2 times, 1 sl st in each st to 3 sts up the side of the large section, (1 htr in next st, 2 ch, sl st in same st as htr, sl st in each of next 2 sts) 2 times, 1 sl st in each st around tip of leaf and 3 sts down other side, (2 ch, 1 htr in same st as last sl st, 1 sl st in each of next 3 sts) 2 times, 1 sl st in each st to end of row. Fasten off.
Main Stalk
Using (162) Black Coffee work 32 ch.
Miss 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of next 24 sts, 1 dc and 2 htr in next st, 1 htr in each st to end. Fasten off.
Side Stem
Using (162) Black Coffee work 14 ch.
Miss 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Embroider on leaf markings using the Black Coffee cotton.
Sew the bottom of the side stem in behind the leaf.
Stitch the top of the side stem in behind the main stem where shown.
Sew the grapes together.
Attach the grapes to the main stem.
And there’s the finished grape applique. I’ve also made them in different sizes.
