Materials Used
- 4 ply crochet cotton, it will need to be cotton not acrylic, so it doesn’t stretch. I used part of a ball of yellow for the centre, part of a ball of red, orange, blue, purple and pink for the flower part, 2 balls of green for the next part and allowed 4 balls of black for the outsides of the granny squares and to make up the bag.
- A crochet hook, I used a 2mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends and stitch the granny squares together.
- Scissors.
Size (With strap)
46cm wide x 61cm high or 18” wide x 24” high
Flower Granny Square (Make 31)
I made 7 squares with red flowers, and 6 with each of the other colour flowers.

Row 3: 4 ch, work a 3 dtr cluster in loop, 5 ch, (work a 4 dtr cluster in next loop, 5 ch) 7 times, sl st on top of 1stcluster. Fasten off.

Row 6: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st and each ch around, join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Size: 11cm square or 4.25” square.
Join Together
I pressed my squares into shape before stitching them together. I placed a square of fabric over them before I pressed them. If you used acrylic for the squares pressing them would damage them.
Lay the squares out like the picture below in rows of 2 and 3 squares, starting and ending with 2 squares. You will have 4 squares left over for the sides.
Join the squares together, I sewed mine together using whip stitch, but you could crochet them together if you prefer. I pressed them once they were joined together.
Bend the bag in half and place the 4 extra squares, where shown, and stitch them in.
Bag without straps measures 46cm square or 18” square.

Join main colour cotton to centre of 1st point.
