Welcome to my king parrot crochet pattern. Here is what the finished king parrot will look like.

King Parrot Crochet Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- dtr – double treble crochet
- ttr – triple treble crochet
Materials Used
- I used 7 colours of 4 ply crochet cotton, red, green, blue, black, grey, and pink for the parrot and brown for the branch but you could use other colours or wool if you prefer.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1.25mm hook.
- Scissors.
- Thread and sewing needle to stitch the parrot together.
- Darning needle to weave in ends.
- Black sewing or embroidery cotton to embroider on the eye.
Head
5 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each st to last st, work 2 dc in last st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 9: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 10: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 11: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 12: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (12 sts)

Row 17: 1 ch, 1 joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (14 sts)
Row 18: 1 ch, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (14 sts)
Row 19: 1 ch, 1 joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (13 sts)

Row 27: 1 ch, 1 joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 28: 1 ch, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 29: 1 ch, 1 joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 30: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last 3 sts, 1 joined dc over last 3 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 31: 1 ch, 1 joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st around working across the bottom of the body as well, sl st in 1st ch. Fasten off.
Tail
Join cotton to bottom of body as shown and work across the bottom 7 sts.
Row 1: 3 ch, work 1 joined tr over same st as ch and next st, 1 tr in each st to last st, work 2 tr in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 2: 3 ch, 1 tr in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined tr over last 2 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 3: 3 ch, work 1 joined tr over 1st 2 sts, 1 tr in each st to last st, work 2 tr in last st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 4: 3 ch, 1 tr in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined tr over last 2 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 5: 3 ch, work 1 joined tr over 1st 2 sts, 1 tr in each st to last st, work 2 tr in last st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 6: 3 ch, 1 tr in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined tr over last 2 sts. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 7: 3 ch, work 1 joined tr over 1st 2 sts, 1 tr in each st to last st, work 2 tr in last st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 8: 3 ch, 1 tr in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined tr over last 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 9: 3 ch, work 1 joined tr over 1st 2 sts, work 2 tr in last st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 10: 3 ch, 1 tr in 1st st, 1 joined tr over last 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 11: 3 ch, work 1 tr in each st. Fasten off.
Front Wing
15 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (14 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (16 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (17 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. (18 sts)
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st across top and down side. Don’t fasten off.
Bottom Part of Wing
15 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 sl st in each of next 3 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Sl st into main part of wing, sl st into next st on main part of wing. Turn.
Row 2: Work 1 sl st into each st up to 2nd last st. Turn.
Row 3: Sl st in each of 1st 3 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 4 sts, 1 htr in each of last 4 sts. Sl st into main part of wing, sl st into next st on main part of wing. Turn.
Row 4: Work 1 sl st into each st up to 2nd last st. Turn.
Row 5: Sl st in each of 1st 3 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 4 sts, 1 htr in each of last 4 sts. Sl st into main part of wing. Fasten off.
Back Wing
Join cotton on wrong side of bird’s body at neck as shown.
Working down side work 1 ch, then 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 1 dtr in next st, 1 or 2 ttr in each of following 10 sts, 1 tr in next st, 1 htr in following st, 1 dc in next st and sl st in following st. Fasten off.
Bottom Part of Beak
Join cotton 2 sts up from neck as shown.
3 ch, work a joined tr over next 2 sts. Fasten off.
Top Part of Beak
4 ch.
Row 1: Miss 2 ch, 1 htr in each of next 2 ch. Turn.
Row 2: 2 ch, work a joined htr over both sts. Fasten off.
Branch
6 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st 2 ch, work 1 htr in each st to end. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: 2 ch, 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in next st, joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, 1 joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 4: 2 ch, 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in next st, joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 5: 2 ch, 1 joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 6: 2 ch, 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in next st, joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn. (4 sts)

Row 16: 2 ch, 1 joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, 2 htr in last st. Fasten off.
Front Claw
Join cotton 3 stitches up from tail as shown.
7 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in next 3 ch, 6 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in next 4 ch and sl st in same place as last sl st from 1st part of claw, 5 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in next 3 ch and sl st in same place as last sl st from 1st part of claw, 1 dc in each st to body. Sl st in body. Fasten off.
Back Claw
Join cotton 5 stitches up from front claw.
5 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in same place on body, 6 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in same place on body, 4 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in same place on body. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Bend the back wing to the front and stitch down.
Sew the front wing on slightly over the back wing as shown.
Attach the top part of the beak.
Embroider on an eye.
Stitch the bird to the branch.
