Welcome to my crochet wall hanging pattern. This pattern was another request. This is what the finished wall hanging will look like.

Crochet Beach Scene Wall Hanging Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used 8 ply yarn which is light worsted in the US and double knit in the UK in colours dark blue, medium blue, sky blue, sand, black and white, 2 100g balls of sand and 1 100g ball of all the rest.
- Crochet hooks, I used a 4.5, 4mm and a 3.5mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
- Scissors.
- I used bamboo and twine to hang the wall hanging up.
Appliques
The Beach Umbrella and Beach Chair are made using 4 ply cotton. The Beach Huts, Basket, Cloud, Bucket and Spade, Flip Flops, Beach Towel and Seagull are all made using Scheepjes Maxi Sweet 2 ply cotton. The hat was made using the hat from the Girl with a Basket of Flowers pattern and was made using Scheepjes Maxi Sweet 2 ply cotton.
Size
48cm wide x 50cm high or 19” wide x 20” high
Main Part
Using dark blue work 79 ch. If you wanted a bigger piece, add on multiples of 13 stitches.
Row 1: Miss 2 ch, (1 tr in each of next 5 ch, 3 tr in following ch, 1 tr in each of next 5 ch, miss 2 ch,) repeat 4 more times, 1 tr in each of next 5 ch, 3 tr in following ch, 1 tr in each of next 5 ch. Turn.
Row 2: 2 ch, working into the back loop only except into 1st and last sts work a joined tr over 1st 2 sts, 1 tr in each of next 4 sts, 3 tr in following st, 1 tr in each of next 5 sts, miss 2 sts, (1 tr in each of next 5 sts, 3 tr in following st, 1 tr in each of next 5 sts, miss 2 sts) 4 times, 1 tr in each of next 5 sts, 3 tr in following st, 1 tr in each of next 4 sts, a joined tr over last 2 sts.
Repeat row 2 twice more.
Join in medium blue and fasten off the dark blue.
Rows 5-8: As row 2.
Join in white and fasten off the medium blue.
Row 9: 2 ch, working into the back loop only except into 1st and last sts work a joined tr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, 3 htr in following st, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, 1 tr in following st, miss 2 sts, (1 tr in next st, 1 htr in each of following 4 sts, 3 htr in next st, 1 htr in each of following 4 sts, 1 tr in next st, miss 2 sts) 4 times, 1 tr in next st, 1 htr in each of following 4 sts, 3 htr in next st, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, a joined tr over last 2 sts.
Join in sand and fasten off the white.
Row 10: 2 ch, working into the back loop only except into 1st and last sts work 1 tr in each of 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each of next 3 sts, 1 dc in each of following 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 3 sts, (1 tr in each of following 4 sts, 1 htr in each of next 3 sts, 1 dc in each of following 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 3 sts) 5 times, 1 tr in each of last 2 sts. Turn.
I changed to a size smaller hook.
Row 11: 2 ch, work 1 tr in 1st st, (1 dc in back loop only of next st, 1 tr in both loops of following st) repeat to last st, 1 dc in both loops of last st. Turn.
Repeat row 11 until the sand section is about double the size of the wave part.
Join in light blue for the sky.
Next row: 1 ch, work 1 htr in each st across. Turn.
Repeat the last row until the sky section is about the same size as the wave section. Fasten off.
Neatening Row
Join dark blue to 1st stitch along the side where shown.
1 ch, using the colours of the piece, work 1 dc in each st on straight edges and into each corner st work 3 dc, until you reach row 1. Fasten off.
Border
Join black to 1st st of neatening row.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st of straight edges and 3 dc in each corner st to end of neatening row. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st of straight edges and 3 dc in each corner st to end. Turn.
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st of straight edges and 3 dc in each corner st to end. Fasten off.
Top
Join black to the top right hand corner.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc in same st as join, 1 dc in each st along the top to next corner. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn.
Repeat row 2 until work is long enough to be stitched over the hanger part. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Stitch the top over the hanger part.
Attach desired appliqués.
Tie a length of twine near each end of the bamboo to hang the wall hanging up.
