Welcome to my crochet tiger pattern. This pattern was another request. This is what the finished tiger applique will look like.

Crochet Tiger Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- dc – double crochet
- tr – treble crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colors (110) Black, (393) Charcoal, (105) Bridal White and (189) Royal Orange.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
- Scissors.
- Thread and needle to stitch the tiger together.
- Black and grey thread to embroider on markings.
- A small black bead for the eye if desired.
- White thread or white fabric paint for a dot in centre of bead if desired.
Size
Large tiger (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
23cm wide x 10.5cm high or 9” wide x 4” high
Medium tiger (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
16.5cm wide x 8cm high or 6.5” wide x 3” high
Small tiger (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
13cm wide x 5cm high or 5” wide x 2” high
Mouth
Using (110) Black work 2 ch.
Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Don’t fasten off and pull loop out.
Nose
Using (393) Charcoal work 3 ch.
Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in last ch, join to loop of mouth and sl st the 2 pieces together. Fasten off the Black but leave Charcoal joined.
Head
Join (105) Bridal White to loop and work over the Charcoal.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, change to Charcoal and leave the Bridal White where it is, 1 sc in each of last 2 sts. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 sc in 1st st, change to Bridal White and fasten off the Charcoal, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in end of mouth. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (7 sts)
Join in (189) Royal Orange and fasten off the Bridal White.
Row 4: 2 ch, work 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 4 sts, 1 hdc in each st to end. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 6: 2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 1 hdc in each of following 2 sts, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 9: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 1 hdc in last st. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 10: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st to last st, 1 sc and 1 hdc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 11: 2 ch, work 1 hdc and 1 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 1 hdc in each st to end. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 12: 2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in each of next 4 sts, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. 6 ch. (12 sts + 6 ch)
Row 13: Miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each remaining ch, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (17 sts)
Row 14: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. 4 ch. (18 sts + 4 ch)
Row 15: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each of last 2 ch, sl st in 2nd st of row 14, sl st in each of next 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (14 sc + foot)
Row 16: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 10 sts, a joined sc over following 2 sts. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 17: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 3 sts, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 18: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 8 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (9 sts)
Join in (105) Bridal White and work over the Royal Orange.
Row 19: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, change to Royal Orange and leave the Bridal White where it is, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 20: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 7 sts, change to Bridal White and leave the Royal Orange where it is, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 21: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 3 sts, change to Royal Orange and leave the Bridal White where it is, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 22: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 7 sts, change to Bridal White and leave the Royal Orange where it is, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 23: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 2 sts, change to Royal Orange and leave the Bridal White where it is, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 24: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 8 sts, change to Bridal White and leave the Royal Orange where it is, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 25: 1 ch, work 1 sc in 1st st, change to Royal Orange and leave the Bridal White where it is, I left the Bridal White attached for the neatening row, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 26: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc and 1 hdc in last st. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 27: 2 ch, work 1 hdc and 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 28: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc and 1 hdc in last st. 5 ch. (15 sts + 5 ch)
Row 29: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each of next 2 ch, 2 dc in last ch, 1 dc in 1st st, 1 dc and 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (22 sts)
Row 30: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 9 sts, a joined sc over following 3 sts. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 31: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 32: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 33: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 34: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 35: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts and a joined sc over last 2 sts. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
Turn work before neatening row.
1 ch, work 1 sc in each st down to back leg, 1 sl st in each st around leg, 1 sc in each st to the Bridal White, join in Bridal White and fasten off the Royal Orange. 1 sc in each st to crease of foot, 1 sl st in each st to end of foot, join in Royal Orange and work over the Bridal White, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 1 hdc in each of following 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to curve of front leg, change to Bridal White and fasten off the Royal Orange, 1 sl st in each of next 4 sts, 1 sc in each st to Bridal White on head, 1 sl st in each st to mouth. Fasten off.
Join Royal Orange to st after charcoal.
Work 1 sl st in each st around head, 1 sc in each st to beginning of neatening row, join with a sl st in top of 1stst. Fasten off.
Far Back Leg
Join (105) Bridal White in back loop where shown, you will need 7 stitches for the leg. I left a long tail at beginning to use for the neatening row.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 sc in same st as join, 1 sc in back loop of each of next 6 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 1 hdc in following 2 sts, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, work 1 sc in 1st st, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 9: 1 ch, work a joined sc over the 2 sts. Turn. (1 st)
Row 10: 1 ch, work 1 sc in st. Turn. (1 st)
Row 11: 1 ch, work 1 sc in st. Fasten off.
Neatening Row
Using the tail left at beginning work 1 sl st in each st to body. Fasten off.
Tail
Join (105) Bridal White to 1st st of body neatening row where shown.
Work 21 ch.
Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each of next 3 ch, 2 hdc in each of following 3 ch, 1 hdc in each ch to last 4 ch, a joined hdc over following 2 ch and a joined dc over last 2 ch. Sl st 2 sts down back. Fasten off.
Ear
Using (105) Bridal White make a magic loop.
1 ch, work 4 sc in circle. Pull circle tight but don’t join. Fasten off. I left a long tail at end to attach it to the head.
Far Front Leg
Using (105) Bridal White work 6 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each remaining ch. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 sc in 1st st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 2 sts, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 9: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 10: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
Work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Stitch the far front leg where shown.
Embroider on markings.
Attach the ear to top of head.
Embroider markings to ear and around ear.
Sew a bead on for the eye or embroider on an eye.
Add a white dot to middle of eye if desired.
