Welcome to my crochet rocket pattern. This pattern was another request. This is what the finished rocket applique will look like.

Crochet Rocket Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colours (146) Vivid Blue, (389) Apple Green, (208) Yellow Gold, (189) Royal Orange and (173) Bluebell.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
- Scissors.
- Thread and needle to stitch the window to the rocket.
Size
Large rocket (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
10.5cm wide x 16cm high or 4.5” wide x 6.25” high
Medium rocket (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
7.5cm wide x 11.5cm high or 2.75” wide x 4.5” high
Small rocket (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
5cm wide x 8cm high or 2” wide x 3” high
Rocket
Using (146) Vivid Blue make a magic loop.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 1 tr, 1 htr and 1 tr in circle. Pull circle tight. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 5 sts, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 1 htr in each of following 3 sts, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in last st. (11 sts)
Join in (208) Yellow Gold leaving a short tail for the neatening row and leaving the Vivid Blue attached for the neatening row.
Row 6: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each st. (11 sts).
Join in (389) Apple Green and fasten off the Yellow Gold leaving a short tail for neatening row.
Row 7: 2 ch, work 1 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 9 sts, 1 htr in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 5 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of last 5 sts. Turn. (12 sts)
Rows 9-18: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 19: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 4 sts, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, 1 dc in each of last 4 sts. Turn. (12 sts)
Join in (208) Yellow Gold leaving a short tail for the neatening row and work over the Apple Green to the other side.
Row 20: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each st. Turn. (12 sts) Fasten off the Yellow Gold leaving a short tail for the neatening row.
Join in (389) Apple Green.
Row 21: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 8 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 22: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 6 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 23: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, 1 tr in each of following 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Fasten off.
Neatening Row
Starting with the Vivid Blue work 1 ch then 1 dc in each st around using the colours of the piece. Join in the Apple Green when needed and work over if when working the Yellow Gold. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
1st Fin
Join (146) Vivid Blue 2 sts before the end Yellow Gold stripe in outside loop only where shown. I left a long tail to use for the neatening row.
Row 1: 3 ch, working into outside loop only work 1 tr in same st as join, 1 tr in each of next 2 sts, 1 htr in each of following 3 sts, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 1 sl st in each of following 2 sts. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 2: Working into front loop only work 1 dc in each of 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, 1 tr in each of following 3 sts, 2 tr in last st. Fasten off.
Neatening Row
Using the tail left at beginning work 1 sl st in each st to top of 1st tr, 1 sl st, 1 ch and 1 sl st in top of tr, 1 sl st in each st of fin and 1st st of rocket. Fasten off.
2nd Fin
Join (146) Vivid Blue across from end of 1st fin in outside loop only where shown. I left a long tail to use for the neatening row.
Row 1: Working into outside loop only work 1 sl st in each of next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of following 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 3 sts, 1 tr in each of following 3 sts. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 2: 3 ch, working into front loop only work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in each of next 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, 1 dc in each of following 3 sts. Fasten off.
Neatening Row
Bring the tail left at beginning up in st before fin, work 1 sl st in each st to top of last tr, 1 sl st, 1 ch and 1 sl st in top of tr, 1 sl st in each st to rocket. Fasten off.
Bottom of Rocket
Join (146) Vivid Blue to 2nd st after fin.
2 ch, work 2 htr in same st as join, 2 htr in each st until 1 st left before fin. Fasten off.
Fire
Join (189) Royal Orange 3 sts before middle st of bottom of rocket.
5 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in next ch, 1 htr in each of last 2 ch, miss 1 st along bottom and sl st in next st, 7 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in next ch, 1 tr in each remaining ch, miss next st along bottom, sl st in following st, 5 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in next ch, 1 htr in each of last 2 ch, miss 1 st along bottom and sl st in next st. Fasten off.
Window
Using (173) Bluebell make a magic loop.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 12 tr in circle. Pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Join (208) Yellow Gold to any st.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st, join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Stitch the window to the rocket.
