Today I will have a crochet pattern for some small birds on a branch. The finished crochet birds will look like this.

Small birds on branch crochet pattern UK
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- dtr – double treble crochet
Materials Used
- Small amounts of desired colours of cotton or wool (I used 5 colours).
- Crochet hook
- Scissors
- Thread to sew together.
- Sewing needle.
- Seed beads to sew on flowers if desired.
Body
Make a magic loop
Row 1: 3 ch. Work 14 tr into loop and pull tight. Slip st. into 3rd ch.
Row 2: 4 ch. Work 1dtr in same place, 2 dtr in each of next 2 tr. 2 tr in each of next 10 tr, 2 dtr in each tr to end. Join with a sl st. Don’t end off.
Tail
4 ch, 1 dtr in same place, 1 dtr and 1 ttr in next st. 1 ttr in next st. Fasten off.
For bird facing opposite way
To make a bird facing the other way work the tail, 5 ch, 1 ttr in same place, 1 ttr and dtr in next st and 1 dtr in following st. End off.
Head
Make a magic loop
4 ch. 11 dtr into ring, pull tight. Do not join. End off. Leave long thread to attach to body.
Wing (Make 2 for each bird)
Make a magic loop
Row 1: 1 ch. Work 12 dc into loop and pull tight. Slip st. into ch.
Row 2: 1 ch, 3 dc, 1 htr and 1 tr in next st, 1 dtr in next st, 1 tr and 1 htr in next st, dc around to end. Fasten off.
Beak
Join yarn to head, 3 ch, joined tr over next 2 sts. End off.
Branch
40 ch, miss 1st ch,4 dc along, ch, 2 htr, 2 tr, 7 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 dc in other 6 ch, work 2 dc over tr and continue along ch tr 19, 12 ch miss 1st ch, 3 dc, 2 htr, tr to the end of ch and also 1 tr into dc then tr along remaining ch, for about 5 then dtr to end. Fasten off.
Flowers
4 ch, join with a sl st, 1 ch, 1 dc in ring, (4 ch, dc in ring) 4 times, 4 ch sl st in 1st ch. Fasten off.
Leaves
4 ch, miss first ch, 1 dc in next 2 ch, 3 dc in last ch, work 1 dc into the back of ch, sl st into 1st ch space. Fasten off . Leave a tail.
To make up
Weave in ends. Stitch head and wings on. Sew in an eye. Attach leaves to the branch and then attach the flowers. Lastly attach the birds to the branch.
