Welcome to my latest crochet pattern. Today I will be continuing the train series with an Elephant appliqué pattern that can go on one of the carriages. The completed Elephant will look like this.

Elephant Face Crochet Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- dtr – double treble crochet
Materials Used
- Small amount of grey and white crochet cotton or wool, I used 4 ply crochet cotton.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1.25mm hook.
- Needle for sewing elephant together.
- Black sewing or embroidery cotton for the eyes.
Head
Make a magic loop.
Row 1: 3 ch. Work 14 tr into loop and pull circle tight. Sl st into 3rd ch.
Row 2: 3 ch. Work 2 tr into each tr. Join with a sl st in 3rd ch. Fasten off.
Trunk
21 ch, 1 dtr in 5th ch from hook, 1 dtr in each of next 4 sts, 1 tr in following st, 3 dec tr over next 6 sts, 1 tr in following st, 2 dec htr over next 4 sts, into end of trunk work 1 htr, 2 ch, sl st in same place, 2 ch, 1 htr. Fasten off.
Ears (Make 2)
Make a magic loop.
Row 1: 3 ch. 10 tr in loop. Pull circle tight, do not join. Turn.
Row 2: 3 ch, 1 tr in next st, 2 tr in each st to last 2 sts, 1 tr in each of these sts. Fasten off.
Eyes (Make 2)
Make a magic loop.
1 ch, 3 dc in loop. Pull circle tight. Join with a sl st. Fasten off.
Tusks (Make 2)
4 ch, 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr, 1 tr. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Attach trunk.
Gather up the ears and attach to head.
Stitch eyes just above trunk to the sides. Embroider in the black on the eyes.
Attach tusks to sides of trunk.
