Welcome to my crochet mountain pattern. This pattern was another request. This is what the finished mountain applique will look like.

Crochet Mountain Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- dtr – double treble crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colours (513) Spring Green and (606) Grass Green.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
- Scissors.
- Thread and needle to stitch the markings down.
Size
Large mountains (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
29cm wide x 8cm high or 11.25” wide x 3” high
Medium mountains (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
20cm wide x 6cm high or 7.75” wide x 2.25” high
Small mountains (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
14cm wide x 4cm high or 5.5” wide x 1.5” high
For this mountain I worked tr instead of htr to make the mountain higher.
Mountains
Using (513) Spring Green work 55 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each ch to last 2 ch, a joined dc over last 2 ch. Turn. (53 sts)
Row 2: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn. (51 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn. (49 sts)
Row 4: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, 1 tr in following st, 2 dtr in next st, 1 tr in following st, 1 htr in each st to end. Turn. (49 sts)
Row 5: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each of next 35 sts, a joined htr over following 2 sts. Turn. (37 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 3 sts, 1 tr in each of next 2 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn. (34 sts)
Row 7: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 23 sts, a joined htr over following 3 sts. Turn. (25 sts)
Row 8: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 8 sts, a joined htr over following 2 sts. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 9: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, a joined htr over last 3 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 10: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, a joined dc over last 3 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 11: 1 ch, work a joined dc, htr and tr over the 3 sts. Fasten off.
Last Peak
Join (513) Spring Green to the last st of row 6.
Row 1: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 5 sts, a joined htr over following 3 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 2: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, 1 dc in each of following 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 or 2 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
1st Marking
The markings are worked over the top of the mountain and stitched down over the mountain.
Join (606) Grass Green in front loop only of 5th st from bottom on small mountain.
5 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 2 tr in next ch, 1 htr in following ch, 1 dc in last ch, 1 dc in the same place as join, 1 dc in front loop of each of next 3 sts, 9 ch, miss 1 ch, 1 sl st in each of next 3 ch, a joined sl st over next 2 ch, 1 htr in each of following 2 ch, 1 tr in last ch, miss next st, sl st in front loop of following st. Fasten off.
2nd Marking
Join (606) Grass Green in front loop 3 sts before lowest st between 1st 2 mountains.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc in the same place as join, 1 dc in front loop of each of next 3 sts. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, 1 dc in each of 1st 3 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work 1 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each of last 2 sts.
Row 4: 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in 1st st, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in next st, 3 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in last st. Fasten off.
3rd Marking
Join (606) Grass Green in front loop 3 sts after 2nd marking.
3 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each remaining ch, 1 dc in front loop of each of next 2 sts, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each remaining ch, 1 dc in front loop of each of next 3 sts, 7 ch, work 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in each ch to last ch, 2 htr in last ch, 1 dc in front loop of next st, 4 ch, 1 dtr in same st as last dc, 4 ch, 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in each of last 2 ch, sl st in top of dtr, 3 ch, 1 tr in top of dtr, 5 ch, 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in each remaining ch, 5 ch, 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in each remaining ch, sl st in top of tr, 3 ch, sl st in bottom of tr, 4 ch, 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in each remaining ch, sl st in top of dtr, 1 dtr in front loop of each of next 2 sts on mountain, 1 tr in front loop of following st, 3 ch, sl st in same st as tr, 1 dc in front loop of each of next 2 sts, 3 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each remaining ch, 1 dc in front loop of each of next 2 sts, 18 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each of next 3 ch, 3 dc in following ch, 1 dc in each of next 2 ch, a joined dc over following 3 ch, 1 dc in each of next 3 ch, 3 dc in following ch, 1 dc in each remaining ch, 1 dc in front loop of each st until 3rd st after next peak, 5 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in same place as last dc. Fasten off.
4th Marking
Using (606) Grass Green work 10 ch.
Miss 1st ch, work 1 sl st in each of next 2 ch, a joined dc over following 2 ch, 1 htr in each ch to last ch, sl st in last ch, work a joined dtr, 2 tr and 1 dtr over front loop of 4 middle sts between the 2 tall peaks, 4 ch, sl st in same st as last st, 1 dc in front loop of each of next 2 sts. Fasten off.
5th Marking
Join (606) Grass Green in front loop in st before top of last peak.
1 ch, work 1 dc in same place as join, 1 dc in front loop of next st, 5 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each remaining ch, 1 dc in front loop of each st to 2nd st down slope, 3 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in last ch, 1 dc in front loop of next st, 6 ch, miss 1st ch, sl st in each of next 2 ch, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, sl st in each remaining ch, 1 dc in front loop of next st, 10 ch, miss 2 ch, work 1 tr in each of next 3 ch, a joined tr over following 3 ch, 1 tr in each remaining ch, 1 htr in front loop of each remaining st down the slope. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Stitch the markings down.
