Welcome to my crochet ice cream pattern. This is a request that I received. This is what the finished ice cream applique will look like.

Crochet Ice Cream Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush colours (179) Topaz, (162) Black Coffee, (106) Snow White and (115) Hot Red.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- Sewing thread and needle to stitch the ice cream together.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
- Embroidery cotton to embroider sprinkles on the ice cream.
Size
Large ice cream (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
11cm wide x 14cm high or 4.5” wide x 5.5” high
Medium ice cream (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
7cm wide x 9cm high or 2.5” wide x 3.5” high
Small ice cream (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
5cm wide x 6.5cm high or 2” wide x 2.5” high
Cone
Using (179) Topaz work 4 ch.
Row 1: Work 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 tr in next st, 1 dc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in next st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 3: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 4: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 5: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 6: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 7: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 8: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 2 tr in last st. (17 sts). Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around sides and bottom but not along top. Fasten off.
Ice Cream
Using (106) Snow White work 6 ch.
Row 1: Work 2 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 3 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 3 dc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 4: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 5: 2 ch, work 3 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 3 htr in last st. Turn. (19 sts)
Row 6: 2 ch, work 1 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 1 htr in last st. Turn. (19 sts)
Row 7: 2 ch, work 3 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (22 sts)
Row 8: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn. (20 sts)
Row 9: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (19 sts)
Row 10: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 3 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (16 sts)
Row 11: 3 ch, work 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in next ch, sl st in last st of row 10, sl st in next st, 1 ch, work a joined dc over next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, a joined dc over following 2 sts. Turn.
Row 12: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts and a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 13: 2 ch, work a joined htr over the 2 sts. Fasten off.
Next Drip
Miss 1 st along row 10 and join (106) Snow White to next st.
Row 1: 1 ch, work a joined dc over next 2 sts and a joined dc over following 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 2: 2 ch, work a joined htr over the 2 sts. Fasten off.
Last Drip
Join (106) Snow White to next st along row 10.
4 ch.
Work 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in next ch, 1 tr in last ch. Sl st in last st of row 10. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
Chocolate
Using (162) Black Coffee work 6 ch.
Row 1: Work 2 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 3 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 3 dc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 4: (5 ch, miss 1st ch and work 1 dc in each remaining ch, 1 sl st in next st on row 3, 2 ch, a joined htr over same st as ch and next st, 2 ch, sl st in same st as last part of joined htr, sl st in next st) 2 times, sl st in next 2 sts, 8 ch, work 2 htr in 3rd ch from hook, 1 htr in each of next 2 sts, 1 dc in each remaining ch, sl st in next st, 1 tr in following st, 1 htr in next st, 1 dc in following st, 4 ch, 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in each remaining ch, sl st in last st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around to the beginning of row 4. Fasten off.
Cherry
Using (115) Hot Red work 7 ch.
Row 1: Work 2 tr in 3rd ch from hook, 1 htr in next st, 1 sl st in following st, 1 htr in next st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 3: 3 ch, work a joined tr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Stitch the cherry to the chocolate.
Attach the chocolate to the ice cream.
Embroider small dots of different colours to the ice cream for sprinkles.
Stitch the ice cream to the cone.
