Welcome to my crochet house pattern. This was another request. I’ve made a plain house and a brick house. This is what the finished house appliques will look like.

Crochet House Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- dtr – double treble crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colours (179) Topaz, (404) English Tea, (115) Hot Red, (110) Black and (162) Black Coffee.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
- A pair of scissors.
- Sewing thread and a needle to stitch the house together.
Size
Large house (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
18cm wide x 30cm high or 7” wide x 12” high
Medium house (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
13cm wide x 19cm high or 5” wide x 7.5” high
Small house (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
9.5cm wide x 14cm high or 3.75” wide x 5.5” high
House with Bricks
Using (179) Topaz work 35 ch.
Row 1: Miss 2 ch, work 1 tr in each st to end. (33 sts). Don’t turn or fasten off. Attach a stitch marker to loop if desired.
Join (404) English Tea to top of ch at beginning of row 1.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 sl st in back loop of each of next 3 sts, (work 1 tr into the ch at the bottom of next st, 1 sl st in back loop of each of next 4 sts) repeat to end of row. Fasten off the English Tea and slip loop of Topaz on the hook. Turn.
Row 3: 2 ch, work 1 tr in front loop only of each st of row 2. (33 sts)
Join in (404) English Tea and leave the Topaz at the side.
Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 sl st in back loop of 1st st, (1 tr in bottom of next st, 1 sl st in back loop of each of next 4 sts) repeat to end of row. Fasten off the English Tea.
Bring a loop of the Topaz through the back loop of the 1st st on the right side.
Row 5: 2 ch, work 1 tr in back loop only of each st. (33 sts). Don’t turn or fasten off, attach a stitch marker to loop.
Join (404) English Tea to the top of ch of row 5.
Row 6: 1 ch, work 1 sl st in back loop of each of next 3 sts, (work 1 tr into the bottom of next st, 1 sl st in back loop of each of next 4 sts) repeat to end of row. Fasten off the English Tea and slip loop of Topaz on the hook. Turn.
Repeat rows 3-6 5 times and rows 3 and 4 once. (You will have worked 28 rows). Fasten off the English Tea.
Neatening Row
Using the Topaz work 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st along edges and 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc in each corner st. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Roof
Using (110) Black work 22 ch.
Row 1: Work 3 tr in 3rd ch from hook, 1 tr in each st to last st, 3 tr in last st. Turn. (24 sts)
Row 2: 3 ch, work 3 dtr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 3 dtr in last st. Turn. (28 sts)
Row 3: 3 ch, work 3 dtr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 3 dtr in last st. Turn. (32 sts)
Row 4: 3 ch, work 3 dtr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 3 dtr in last st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st along edges and 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc in each corner st. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Join (404) English Tea to back loop only of 1st st of the longer end of the roof.
Row 1: 2 ch, working into the back loop only work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn.
Row 2: Sl st into 2nd st, 1 ch, working into the front loop only work 1 dc in same st as ch, 1 dc in each st to 2nd last st. Turn.
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in back loop of each st. Fasten off.
Chimneys
Join (179) Topaz to 1st st at top of the roof.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 1 tr in same st as join. 1 tr in each of next 4 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 2: 2 ch, work 1 tr in each st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Fasten off.
Neatening Row
Join topaz to 1st st, work 1 sl st in each st around the chimney. Fasten off.
Join (179) Topaz to the 5th last st of the roof.
Work the 2nd chimney the same as the 1st chimney.
Door
Using (115) Hot Red work 15 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (14 sts)
Rows 2-3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (14 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st along edges and 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc in each corner st. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Join (110) Black to back loop only at the bottom long end of the door.
1 ch, work 1 dc in back loop only of each dc and 2 dc in the corner ch in each st around sides and top. Fasten off.
Join (110) Black to top of the door where shown.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 1 htr in same st as join, 1 htr in each st along top. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 sl st in back loop only of each st. Turn.
Row 3: 2 ch, working into the loop left of row 1 work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Fasten off.
Join (110) Black where shown.
Work 1 dc in each st on straight sections, 2 dc in corner sts. Sl st in 1st st at top side of door. Fasten off
Windows (Make 5)
Using (162) Black Coffee work 4 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn. (3 sts)
Rows 2-5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st along edges and 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc in each corner st. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Join (404) English Tea to any st.
1 ch, work 1 sl st in back loop only of each st on straight edges and 1 sl st, 1 ch and 1 sl st in the corner sts around the window. Fasten off.
Join (404) English Tea to top of the window in st after ch where shown.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc in same st as join, 1 dc in each st along top. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 sl st in back loop only of each st. Turn.
Row 3: 1 ch, working into the loop left of row 1 work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Fasten off.
Join (404) English Tea where shown.
Work 1 sl st in each st on straight sections, 1 sl st, 1 ch, 1 sl st in corner sts. Sl st in 1st st at the top side of the window. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Embroider a doorknob on the door.
Stitch the door to the middle bottom of the house.
Attach the roof.
Embroider markings on the windows.
Stitch the windows to the house.
And that’s the finished brick house.
House Without Bricks
Using desired cotton work 33 ch.
Row 1: Miss 2 ch, work 1 tr in each st to end. Turn. (31 sts)
Rows 2-16: 2 ch, work 1 tr in each st. Turn. (31 sts)
Row 17: 2 ch, work 1 tr in each st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st along edges and 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc in each corner st. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Work the rest of the house and make up the same as the house with bricks.
