Welcome to my beginner crochet cherry pattern. This is another request that I received. This is what the finished cherry applique will look like.

This pattern will be using UK terminology. If you would like to view, the US version go to crochet cherry pattern (US version).
Crochet Cherry Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush colours (115) Hot Red and (606) Grass Green.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
Size
Large cherries (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
8.5cm wide x 8.5cm high or 3.25” wide x 3.25” high
Medium cherries (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
6cm wide x 6cm high or 2.5” wide x 2.5” high
Small cherries (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
5cm wide x 4.5cm high or 2” wide x 1.75” high
Cherry (Make 2)
Using (115) Hot Red work 7 ch.
Row 1: Work 2 tr in 3rd ch from hook, 1 htr in next st, 1 sl st in following st, 1 htr in next st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Rows 2-3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, a joined dc over last 2 sts. (3 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined dc over the 3 sts. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
1st Stem
Join (606) Grass Green to the centre top of the cherry.
Work 14 ch. Fasten off.
2nd Stem
Join (606) Grass Green to the centre top of the cherry.
10 ch. Join to 1st stem near the top by working 1 sl st in each of last 4 sts of 1st stem. Fasten off.
Leaf
Using (606) Grass Green work 9 ch.
Work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in next st, 1 htr in following st, 1 tr in each of next 3 sts, 1 htr in following st, 1 sl st in last st, 2 ch, 1 sl st in back loop of 1st ch, 1 htr in next st, 1 tr in each of following 3 sts, 1 htr in next st, 1 dc in following st, sl st in last st. Fasten off leaving a long tail to attach it to the stem.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Attach the leaf near the top of the stems.
