Welcome to my beginner crochet cherry pattern. This is another request that I received. This is what the finished cherry applique will look like.

Crochet Cherry Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- dc – double crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush colors (115) Hot Red and (606) Grass Green.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
Size
Large cherries (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
8.5cm wide x 8.5cm high or 3.25” wide x 3.25” high
Medium cherries (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
6cm wide x 6cm high or 2.5” wide x 2.5” high
Small cherries (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
5cm wide x 4.5cm high or 2” wide x 1.75” high
Cherry (Make 2)
Using (115) Hot Red work 7 ch.
Row 1: Work 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sl st in following st, 1 hdc in next st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Rows 2-3: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, a joined sc over last 2 sts. (3 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined sc over the 3 sts. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
1st Stem
Join (606) Grass Green to the centre top of the cherry.
Work 14 ch. Fasten off.
2nd Stem
Join (606) Grass Green to the centre top of the cherry.
10 ch. Join to 1st stem near the top by working 1 sl st in each of last 4 sts of 1st stem. Fasten off.
Leaf
Using (606) Grass Green work 9 ch.
Work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next st, 1 hdc in following st, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 1 hdc in following st, 1 sl st in last st, 2 ch, 1 sl st in back loop of 1st ch, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in each of following 3 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in following st, sl st in last st. Fasten off leaving a long tail to attach it to the stem.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Attach the leaf near the top of the stems.
