Welcome to my crochet Bavarian girl pattern. This is another request that I received. This is what the finished Bavarian girl applique will look like.

Crochet Bavarian Girl Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- dtr – double treble crochet
Materials Used
- Crochet cotton or wool, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush or Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colours (208) Yellow Gold, (105) Bridal White, (110) Black, (390) Poppy Rose, (254) Moon Rock, (201) Electric Blue, (173) Bluebell and (106) Snow White.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- Scissors.
- Darning needle to weave in ends.
- Sewing thread and needle to stitch the girl together and embroider on markings.
Size
Large girl (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
8cm x 17.5cm or 3” x 6.75”
Medium girl (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
5cm x 12.5cm or 2” x 5”
Small girl (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
4cm x 9cm or 1.5” x 3.5”
Head
Using (105) Bridal White work 4 ch.
Row 1: Work 2 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 tr in next st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Rows 5-6: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Skirt
Using (390) Poppy Rose work 12 ch,
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 1 htr in each of following 2 sts, 1 tr in each of next 3 sts, 1 htr in each of following 2 sts, 1 dc in each of last 2 sts. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (9 sts)
Rows 4-5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 9: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 10: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st along the straight sections and 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc in corner sts. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Bodice
Join (201) Electric Blue to 1st st at top of skirt.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc in same st as ch, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in last st. Fasten off.
Neatening Row & Straps
Join (201) Electric Blue to 1st st of the bodice where shown.
Work 1 sl st in each st up the side, 6 ch, miss 1 ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch, sl st in each st along top, 6 ch, miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch, sl st in each st down the side. Fasten off.
Front of Hair
Using (254) Moon Rock work 6 ch.
Row 1: Work 2 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in each ch to last ch, 2 dc in last ch. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. 7 ch. (11 sts + 7 ch)
Row 5: Miss 1 ch, 1 sl st in each of next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of following 2 sts, 1 htr in each of last 2 ch, sl st in 2nd st along row 4, (2 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next st of row 4) 7 times, 7 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each of next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of following 2 sts, 1 htr in each of last 2 sts, sl st in last st of row 4. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
Work 1 sl st in each st around to the beginning of 1st strand of hair. Fasten off.
Back of Hair
Using (254) Moon Rock work 10 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (13 sts)
Rows 5-6: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (11 sts)
Rows 8-9: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 10: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
Eyes (Make 2)
Using (110) Black make a magic loop.
1 ch, work 2 dc in circle. Pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of ch. Fasten off.
Apron
Using (106) Snow White work 3 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in each st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, sl st in 1st st, (2 ch, sl st in next st) repeat to end of row. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
Work 1 sl st in each st around sides and top but not along the bottom. Fasten off.
Shoes
Join (110) Black the st after middle st at bottom of the skirt.
1 ch, work 1 dc in same st as ch, 1 dc in next st. Fasten off.
Join cotton 3 sts before 1st shoe.
Work the same as the other shoe.
Belt
Using (208) Yellow Gold work 8 ch.
Miss 1 ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Fasten off.
Blouse
Using (173) Bluebell work 10 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (9 sts)
1st Side
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in 1st st, 1 htr in next st. 1 tr in following st. Fasten off.
2nd Side
Join (173) Bluebell to 3rd last st.
3 ch, work 1 tr in same st as ch, 1 htr in next st, 1 dc in last st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around to the 3 neck sts, 1 htr in 1st st, 1 sl st in next st, 1 htr in last st, 1 sl st in each st to the beginning of row. Fasten off.
Necklace
Using (110) Black work 8 ch. Fasten off. I didn’t weave in the ends but used them to join the necklace to the back of the neck.
Flowers (Make 2)
Using (208) Yellow Gold make a magic loop.
(Into circle work 2 ch, sl st in circle) 5 times. Fasten off.
Neck
Using (105) Bridal White work 6 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn. (5 sts)
Rows 2-5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts and a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)
Rows 8-9: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 10: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
Work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
1st Arm
Using (105) Bridal White work 10 ch.
Work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in next st, 1 sl st in following st, 1 dc in next st, a joined htr over following 2 sts, 1 htr in each remaining st. Fasten off.
2nd Arm
Using (105) Bridal White work 10 ch.
Miss 2 ch, work 1 htr in each of next 3 sts, 2 htr in following st, 1 dc in next st, sl st in following st, 1 dc in next st, sl st in last st. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Stitch the top hair to the head.
Embroider a white dot in the middle of each eye.
Sew the eyes to the head.
Embroider a nose and mouth to the head.
Embroider dots along the bottom of the apron.
Attach the apron to the skirt.
Stitch the belt at top of the apron.
Embroider crosses to the top of the dress.
Sew the blouse in behind the dress.
Stitch the arms in behind the blouse sleeves and down on to the apron.
Attach the neck in behind the blouse and dress.
Stitch the necklace chain around the neck.
Sew the flower to the chain.
Attach the head to the neck.
Sew the back hair in behind the head.
Stitch a flower to the hair if desired.
