I recently worked with American Yarns, an Australian yarn store based in Melbourne on a series of sponsored posts and crochet tutorials. I was provided with wool to make a crochet plane mobile, teddy bear pilot and how to put the mobile together. This is the finished plane mobile.

American Yarns is an Australian yarn store that provides American made yarns to Australia and New Zealand. They’re an online store that has a wide selection of yarns including Red Heart, Caron, Bernat and Lily Sugar & Cream. They have a large selection of colours and if they don’t have the items in stock that you require, they are able to order them in.  They had most of the colours I wanted to use for the plane mobile and ordered the others in from America and they arrived much quicker than I expected. The staff were helpful and always replied quickly to my emails. They offer a 30-day money back guarantee, but as the products were lovely, I haven’t experienced the process.

I found the Red Heart Soft yarn easy to work with and it didn’t split.  I have arthritis in my fingers and hands and find a lot of thicker yarns make my hands terribly painful but didn’t have any problems with the Red Heart Soft yarn.   The yarn was soft to use but holds its shape well which was important for the planes for the mobile.  I did use a finer hook than you would usually use for the yarn as I like my appliques and amigurumi to be tighter than usual.  I’m thrilled with the finished mobile.
