Crochet Large Pond Pattern (UK Version)

Welcome to my crochet large pond pattern. This pattern was another request. This is what the finished large pond applique will look like.

Crochet Large Pond Pattern

Large pond (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)

42cm wide x 24cm high or 16.5” wide x 9.5” high

Medium pond (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)

28cm wide x 16cm high or 11” wide x 6.5” high

Small pond (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)

21cm wide x 13cm high or 8.25” wide x 5” high

Pond

I didn’t work a stitch count for this pattern because a stitch or two out wouldn’t make a difference, and there would be so much counting. 

 

Using (201) Electric Blue work 70 ch.

 

Row 1: Work 2 htr in 3rd ch from hook, 1 htr in each of next 32 sts, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn.

Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 30 sts, 1 htr in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn.

Row 3: 2 ch, work 3 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each of next 35 sts, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn.

Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 25 sts, 1 htr in each st to last st, 2 htr and 1 tr in last st. Turn.

Row 5: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each of next 35 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn.

Row 6: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 30 sts, 1 htr in each st to end. Turn.

Row 7: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each of 1st 50 sts 1 dc in each st to end. Turn.

Row 8: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 30 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 9: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each st. Turn.

Row 10: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 11: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each st to end. Turn.

Row 12: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each st to last 3 sts, a joined htr over last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 13: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each st to end. Turn.

Row 14: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each st to last 3 sts, a joined htr over last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 15: 3 ch, work a joined tr over 1st 4 sts, 1 htr in each st to the last 2 sts, a joined htr over the last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 16: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 4 sts, a joined tr over last 4 sts. Turn.

Row 17: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 18: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each st to end. Turn.

Row 19: 2 ch, work 3 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to last 3 sts, a joined htr over last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 20: 3 ch, work a joined tr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn.

Row 21: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to last 4 sts, a joined tr over last 4 sts. Turn.

Row 22: 3 ch, work a joined tr over 1st 4 sts, 1 htr in each st to end. Turn.

Row 23: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to last 4 sts, a joined tr over last 4 sts. Turn.

Row 24: 3 ch, work a joined tr over 1st 4 sts, 1 htr in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn.

Row 25: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to last 3 sts, a joined htr over last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 26: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each st to end. Turn.

Row 27: 2 ch, work 2 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to last 3 sts, a joined htr over last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 28: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each st to end. Turn.

Row 29: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 3 sts, a joined htr over last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 30: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 31: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 3 sts, a joined htr over last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 32: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 33: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 3 sts, a joined htr over last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 34: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 35: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each of the next 2 sts, 1 tr in each st to last 4 sts, 1 htr in each of the following 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Don’t fasten off.

Neatening Row

Turn work if you want your pond facing the other way.

 

1 ch, work 1 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st in the top of 1st st. Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends. Decorate as desired.

And there’s the finished pond. I’ve also decorated it with some other appliques and made it in different sizes.
