Mouse Pattern (UK version)

Welcome to my first pattern design and how-to video, today I will be showing you how to make this crochet mouse pattern. The completed mouse will look like this.

Crochet Mouse Pattern

 Abbreviations

 Materials Used

Small amount of desired colour of cotton or wool.  Crochet hook.  Sewing or embroidery cotton for the eyes, nose and whiskers.  Sewing needle.

Body

Make a magic loop
Row 1:  3 ch. Work 14 tr into loop and pull tight. Slip st. into 3rd ch.
Row 2:  3 ch. Work 2 tr into each tr. Join with a sl st.
Row 3:  3 ch.  .*Work 1 tr in each of next 2 tr and 2 tr in following tr, * repeat from * to * to end, sl st. in 3rd ch. Continue with tail.

Tail

23 ch, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, work along the tail in dc, htr and tr so the tail gradually gets thicker as it gets closer to the body.  For bends in the tail work 2 sts into a ch for a joined st over 2 sts.

23 ch, 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st  in next 2 sts, 1 dc, 2 joined dc over next 4 sts, 1 dc, 1 htr, 2 htr in next st, 1 htr in each of next 3 sts, 1 dec tr over next 2 sts, tr in each ch to end.  Sl st into body. Fasten off.

Head

Make a magic loop.
Row 1:  3 ch, 5 tr in loop. Do not join.  Turn
Rows 2- 4:  3 ch, tr in same place, (1 tr in next st, 2 tr in following st) repeat to end. Fasten off.

Ears  (Make 2)

Make a magic loop.
Row 1:  3 ch. 10 tr in loop. Pull tight, Do not join.  Turn
Row 2:  3 ch, 1 tr in next st, 2 tr in each st to last 2, 1 tr in each of these sts.  Fasten off.

Whiskers (Make 6)

In fine sewing cotton ch 13.  Fasten off.  Leave a long tail on one end to sew to face.  Leave a small space on the other end.

 

To Make Up

Weave in endings.  Sew on eyes and nose.  Attach the ears by gathering them in and sewing them under head.  Attach head to the body.
