King Parrot Crochet Pattern

Abbreviations 

Materials Used 

Head

5 ch.

Row 1:  Miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each st to last st, work 2 sc in last st.  Turn. (5 sts)

Row 2:  1 ch, 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st.  Turn.  (7 sts)

Row 3:  1 ch, 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn.  (8 sts)

Row 4:  1 ch, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st.  Turn.  (9 sts)

Row 5:  1 ch, 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn.  (9 sts)

Row 6:  1 ch, 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn.  (9 sts)

Row 7:   1 ch, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined sc over last 2 sts.  Turn.  (8 sts)

Row 11:   1 ch, 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn.  (11 sts)

Row 17:   1 ch, 1 joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn.  (14 sts)

Row 18:   1 ch, 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn.  (14 sts)

Row 19:  1 ch, 1 joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn.  (13 sts)

Row 30:  1 ch, 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last 3 sts, 1 joined sc over last 3 sts. Turn.  (6 sts)

Row 31:  1 ch, 1 joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to end.  Don’t fasten off.

Neatening Row

1 ch, work 1 sc in each st around including across bottom of body, sl st in 1st ch.  Fasten off.

Tail

Join cotton to bottom of body as shown and work across the bottom 7 sts.

Row 1:  3 ch, work 1 joined dc over same st as ch and next st, 1 dc in each st to last st, work 2 dc in last st.  Turn. (7 sts)

Row 2:  3 ch, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined dc over last 2 sts.  Turn.  (6 sts)

Row 3:  3 ch, work 1 joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last st, work 2 dc in last st.  Turn. (6 sts)

Row 4:  3 ch, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined dc over last 2 sts.  Turn.  (5 sts)

Row 5:  3 ch, work 1 joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last st, work 2 dc in last st.  Turn. (5 sts)

Row 6:  3 ch, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined dc over last 2 sts.  Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 7:   3 ch, work 1 joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last st, work 2 dc in last st.  Turn. (4 sts)

Row 8:   3 ch, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, 1 joined dc over last 2 sts.  Turn.  (3 sts)

Row 9:   3 ch, work 1 joined dc over 1st 2 sts, work 2 dc in last st.  Turn. (3 sts)

Row 10:  3 ch, 1 dc in 1st st, 1 joined dc over last 2 sts.  Turn.  (2 sts)

Row 11:   3 ch, work 1 dc in each st.  Fasten off.

Front Wing

15 ch.

 

Row 1:  Miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn. (14 sts)

Row 2:  1 ch, 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn.  (15 sts)

Row 3:  1 ch, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (16 sts)

Row 4:  1 ch, 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn.  (17 sts)

Row 5:  1 ch, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. (18 sts)

Neatening Row

1 ch, work 1 sc in each st across top and down side.  Don’t fasten off.

Bottom Part of Wing

15 ch.

Row 1:  Miss 1st ch, work 1 sl st in each of next 3 sts, 1 sc in each st to end. Sl st into main part of wing, sl st into next st on main part of wing. Turn.

Row 2:  Work 1 sl st into each st up to 2nd last st.  Turn.

Row 3:  Sl st in each of 1st 3 sts, 1 sc in each st to last 4 sts, 1 hdc in each of last 4 sts. Sl st into main part of wing, sl st into next st on main part of wing. Turn.

Row 4:  Work 1 sl st into each st up to 2nd last st.  Turn.

Row 5:  Sl st in each of 1st 3 sts, 1 sc in each st to last 4 sts, 1 hdc in each of last 4 sts. Sl st into main part of wing. Fasten off.

Back Wing

Join cotton on wrong side of bird’s body at neck as shown.

Working down side work 1 ch, then 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 1 tr in next st, 1 or 2 dtr in each of following 10 sts, 1 dc in next st, 1 hdc in following st, 1 sc in next st and sl st in following st.  Fasten off.

Bottom Part of Beak

Join cotton 2 sts up from neck as shown.

3 ch, work a joined dc over next 2 sts.  Fasten off.

Top Part of Beak

4 ch.

Row 1:  Miss 2 ch, 1 hdc in each of next 2 ch.  Turn.

Row 2:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over both sts.  Fasten off.

Branch

6 ch.

Row 1:  Miss 1st 2 ch, work 1 hdc in each st to end.  Turn. (4 sts)

Row 2:  2 ch, 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 3:  2 ch, 1 joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in last st.  Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 4:  2 ch, 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 5:  2 ch, 1 joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in last st.  Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 6:  2 ch, 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 7:   2 ch, 1 joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in last st.  Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 8:   2 ch, 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 9:   2 ch, 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 10:  2 ch, 1 joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in last st.  Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 11:   2 ch, 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 12:   2 ch, 1 joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in last st.  Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 13:   2 ch, 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 14:   2 ch, 1 joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in last st.  Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 15:  2 ch, 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.  (4 sts)

Row 16:  2 ch, 1 joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in last st.  Fasten off.

Front Claw

Join cotton 3 stitches up from tail as shown.

7 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in next 3 ch, 6 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in next 4 ch and sl st in same place as last sl st from 1st part of claw, 5 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in next 3 ch and sl st in same place as last sl st from 1st part of claw, 1 sc in each st to body.  Sl st in body.  Fasten off.

Back Claw

Join cotton 5 stitches up from front claw.

5 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in same place on body, 6 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in same place on body, 4 ch, miss 2 ch and sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in same place on body.  Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends.  Bend the back wing to the front and stitch down.

Sew the front wing on slightly over the back wing as shown.

Attach the top part of the beak.

Embroider on an eye.

Stitch the bird to the branch.
