Today I’ll be showing you one of the beginner patterns. Here is a crochet granny square.

Here are the finished granny squares decorated with the Crochet Kangaroo and Crochet Koala.
This pattern will be using UK terminology. If you would like to get the US version go to Crochet Granny Square (US Version).
Granny Square Crochet Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- tr – treble crochet
Materials
- Wool.
- Crochet hook suitable for the ply wool.
- Scissors.
- Darning needle to weave in ends.
Granny Square
4 ch, join with a sl st in 1st ch.
Row 1: 3 ch (Counts as 1st tr), 2 tr into circle (3 ch, 3 tr into circle) 3 times, 3 ch, sl st into top of 1st 3 ch.
Row 2: Sl st to 1st 3 ch space, 3 ch, 2 tr, 3 ch and 3 tr into 1st corner, (2 ch, into next corner work 3 tr, 3 ch and 3 tr) 3 times, 2 ch, sl st into top of 1st 3 ch.
Row 3: Sl st to 1st 3 ch space, 3 ch, 2 tr, 3 ch and 3 tr into 1st corner, (2 ch, into next corner work 3 tr, 3 ch and 3 tr, 2 ch, work 3 tr into next 2 ch space) 3 times, 2 ch, sl st into top of 1st 3 ch.
Row 4: Sl st to 1st 3 ch space, 3 ch, 2 tr, 3 ch and 3 tr into 1st corner, (2 ch, into next corner work 3 tr, 3 ch and 3 tr, 2 ch, work 3 tr into next 2 ch space, 2 ch, work 3 tr into following 2 ch space) 3 times, 2 ch, sl st into top of 1st 3 ch.
To make a bigger granny square continue as before adding an extra 2 ch and 3 tr into the extra 2 ch space on each side for each row.
