Welcome to my girl crochet applique pattern. This was requested by a subscriber. The finished girl applique will look like this.

Girl Crochet Applique Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- dtr – double treble crochet
Materials Used
- 4 colours of crochet cotton or wool, I used 4 ply crochet cotton.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1.5mm hook.
- Scissors.
- Darning needle to weave in ends.
- Sewing needle and thread to stitch the girl together.
- Black and pink thread to embroider on the eyes and mouth.
- Beads for the flowers if desired.
Size
Large girl (Using 8 ply wool)
13cm x 8.5cm or 5” x 3.25”
Medium girl (Using 4 ply crochet cotton)
8.5cm x 6cm or 3.25” x 2.5”
Head
Make a magic loop.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 8 dc in circle, pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of 1st st.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in each st. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Don’t fasten off.
Neck
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 dc in same st as ch and 1 dc in next st. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in each st. Don’t fasten off.
Arms
9 ch.
Miss 1 ch and work 1 htr in each ch to end, work 1 dc in each st along bottom of neck, 9 ch, miss 1 ch and work 1 htr in each remaining ch, sl st in next st at side of neck. Fasten off.
Dress Bodice
6 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch and work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn.
Row 3: 3 ch, work 1 tr in same st as ch, 1 htr in next st, 1 dc in following st, 1 htr in next st and 2 tr in last st. Fasten off.
Dress Skirt
Join cotton to 1st st at bottom of bodice.
Row 1: 3 ch, work 2 tr in each st to end. Turn.
Row 2: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st and 2 tr in last st. Turn.
Row 3: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st and 2 tr in last st. Turn.
Row 4: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1st st, 1 tr in each st to last st and 2 tr in last st. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
Work 1 sl st in each st around sides and bodice. Fasten off.
Hair
Make a magic loop.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 4 dc into circle, pull circle tight but don’t join. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc into each dc. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
Work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
Legs (Make 2)
8 ch.
Miss 1 ch and work 1 dc in each st to end. Work 1 sl st in each st in back of chain. Fasten off.
Shoes (Make 2)
Make a magic loop.
1 ch, work 4 dc in circle, pull circle tight but don’t join. Sl st across flat side. Fasten off.
Flower
Make a magic loop.
(1 ch, sl st in circle) 5 times. Pull circle tight and fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Make 2 plaits with the same colour cotton as hair (I used 4 strands of cotton for each plait piece).
Attach plaits to hair.
Stitch the hair to the head.
Embroider on eyes and mouth.
Sew the dress to the neck.
Stitch the legs to the bottom of the dress.
Sew the shoes to the bottom of the legs.
Crochet a length of chain to go around the waist of the dress and stitch it on.
Attach flowers with a bead.
