Welcome to my easy cat crochet pattern. This is what the finished cat will look like.

Easy Cat Crochet Pattern

Abbreviations

st – stitch
sts – stitches
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
dc – double crochet
htr – half treble crochet
tr – treble crochet
dtr – double treble crochet

Materials Used

Crochet cotton or wool, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colours (106) Snow White, (074) Mercury, (222) Tulipe, (215) Royal Blue and (110) Black. .
A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
Scissors.
A sewing needle and thread to stitch the cat together.
Black and white thread to embroider on markings.
Darning needle to weave in ends.

Size

Large cat (Using 8 ply crochet cotton & a 3mm hook)

12cm x 11cm or 5” x 4.5”

Medium cat (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)

13cm x 11cm or 5” x 4”

Small cat (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)

8.5cm x 6.5cm or 3.25” x 2.5”

Head

Make a magic loop.

Row 1: 2 ch. Work 15 tr into circle and pull circle tight. Sl st in top of 1^st st.

Row 2: 2 ch. 1 tr in same place as ch. Work 2 tr into each st to end of row. Join with a sl st in top of 1^st st.

Row 3: 2 ch. Work 1 tr in same place as ch (1 tr in each of next 2 sts and 2 tr in following st) repeat to end of row, sl st in top of 1^st st. Fasten off.

Ears

Join yarn to any stitch on head.

Row 1: 1 ch, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts. Turn.

Row 2: 1 ch, a joined dc over 1^st 2 sts, a joined dc over same st as last part of joined dc and next st. Turn.

Row 3: 1 ch a joined dc over both sts. Fasten off.

Miss 5 stitches and work the 2^nd ear the same as the 1^st.

Body

Make a magic loop.

Row 1: 2 ch. Work 15 tr into circle and pull circle tight. Sl st in top of 1^st st.

Row 2: 2 ch. 1 tr in same place as ch. Work 2 tr into each st to end of row. Join with a sl st in top of 1^st st.

Row 3: 2 ch. Work 1 tr in same place as ch (1 tr in each of next 2 sts and 2 tr in following st) repeat to end of row, sl st in top of 1^st st.

Row 4: 2 ch. Work 1 tr in same place as ch (1 tr in each of next 2 sts and 2 tr in following st) repeat to end of row, sl st in top of 1^st st.

Row 5: 1 ch. Work 1 dc in same place as ch (1 dc in each of next 2 sts and 2 dc in following st) repeat to end of row, sl st in top of 1^st st. Fasten off.

Tail

25 ch.

Row 1: Work 1 tr in 4^th ch from hook, (2 tr in next st, 1 tr in following st) 3 times, (2 htr in next st, 1 htr in following st) 2 times, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, 1 dc in each of following 5 sts, 1 sl st in each st to end. Turn.

Row 2: Sl st in each of 1^st 3 sts, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 1 htr in each of following 4 sts, 1 tr in each of next 2 sts, (2 tr in next st, 1 tr in each of following 3 sts) repeat to end. Work 1 dc in each st down end of tail. Turn.
