Crochet Water Lily Pattern (UK Version)

Welcome to my crochet water lily pattern. This is what the finished water lily applique will look like.

Crochet Water Lily Pattern

Abbreviations

Materials Used

Size

Large water lily (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)

7cm wide x 7cm high or 2.75” wide x 2.75” high

Medium water lily (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)

5.5cm wide x 5.5cm high or 2.25” wide x 2.25” high

Small water lily (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)

4.5cm wide x 4.5cm high or 1.75” wide x 1.75” high

Flower Centre

Using (208) Yellow Gold, make a magic loop.

Row 1:  1 ch, work 5 dc in the circle.  Pull the circle tight and join with a sl st in the front loop of 1st st.  (5 sts)

Row 2:  (3 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each of last 2 ch, sl st in front loop of next st) 5 times.

Row 3:  Sl st in back loop of 1st st of row 1, (3 ch, miss 1st ch, sl st in each of last 2 ch, sl st in back loop of same st, 3 ch, miss 1st ch, sl st in each of last 2 ch, sl st in back loop of next st of row 1) 5 times.  Fasten off.  I left a long tail to join it to the flower.

Flower

Using (106) Snow White make a magic loop.

Row 1:  1 ch, work 8 dc in the circle.  Pull the circle tight and join with a sl st in the front loop of 1st st.  (8 sts)

Row 2:  (7 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in next ch, 1 tr in each of following 3 ch, 1 dc in last ch, sl st in front loop of next st) 8 times.

Row 3:  Sl st in back loop of 1st st of row 1, (8 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in next ch, 1 tr in following ch, 1 dtr in each of next 3 ch, 1 htr in last ch, sl st in back loop of next st of row 1) 8 times.  Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends.  Attach the centre to the middle of the flower.

And there’s the finished water lily. I’ve also made it in different sizes and colours.
