Welcome to my crochet robin. This is another request. This is what the finished robin applique will look like.

Crochet Robin Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- dc – double crochet
- tr – treble crochet
Materials Used
- Crochet cotton or wool, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colors (254) Moon Rock, (390) Poppy Rose, (105) Bridal White and (162) Black Coffee.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- Scissors.
- Darning needle to weave in ends.
- Sewing thread and needle to stitch the robin together.
- A small black bead for the eye if desired.
Size
Large robin (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
10.5cm x 9cm or 4” x 3.5”
Medium robin (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
7cm x 5.5cm or 2.75” x 2.25”
Small robin (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
5cm x 4.5cm or 2” x 1.75”
Head
Using (390) Poppy Rose make a magic loop.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 2 sc in circle with poppy rose, join in (254) moon rock and work 1 sc in circle. Pull circle tight. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: Using moon rock work 1 ch, 1 sc in 1st st, change to poppy rose and work 1 sc in next st and 2 hdc in last st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 3: Using poppy rose work 1 ch, 2 sc in 1st st and 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, change to moon rock, work 1 sc in same st as last sc and 1 sc in last st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 4: Using moon rock work 1 ch, 1 sc in each of 1st 2 sts, change to poppy rose and work 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 5: Using poppy rose work 2 ch, 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, change to moon rock, 1 sc in each of following 2 sts, 1 hdc in last st. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 6: Using moon rock work 2 ch, 1 hdc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, change to poppy rose and work 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 1 hdc in each of last 2 sts. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 7: Using poppy rose work 1 ch, 2 sc in 1st st and 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, change to moon rock and work 1 sc in next st and a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 8: Using moon rock work 1 ch, 2 sc in 1st st and 1 sc in next st, change to poppy rose and work 1 sc in same st as last sc and 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 9: Change to (105) Bridal White and crochet over poppy rose.
Work 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 2 sts, change to poppy rose, 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, change to moon rock and work 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 10: Using moon rock work 1 ch, 1 sc in each of 1st 3 sts, change to poppy rose, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, change to bridal white, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 11: Using bridal white work 1 ch, a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, change to poppy rose, work 1 sc in each of following 2 sts, change to moon rock, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 12: Using moon rock work 1 ch, a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, change to bridal white, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 13: Using bridal white work 1 ch, a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, change to moon rock, 1 sc in following st, work a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 14: Using moon rock work 1 ch, a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, change to bridal white, work 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 15: Using bridal white work 1 ch, a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, change to moon rock and work a joined sc over last 2 sts. Fasten off bridal white.
Neatening Row
Using the moon rock cotton work 1 ch, then 1 sc in each st up the back to the red, join in poppy rose and work 1 sc in each st on red, join in bridal white and work 1 sc in each st to end of row. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Tail
Join (254) Moon Rock to last cream st at back of bird.
8 ch, miss 1st ch and work 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in next st on body, 7 ch, miss 1st ch and work 1 sl st in each remaining ch. Sl st in next st on body. Fasten off leaving a long tail to stitch the 2 tail pieces together.
Wing
Using (254) Moon Rock work 4 ch.
Row 1: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in next st, 1 sc in last st. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of the 3 sts.
Row 3: 9 ch, miss 1st ch and work 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in 1st st of row 2, 8 ch, miss 1st ch and work 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in next st of row 2, 7 ch, miss 1st ch, work 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in last st of row 2. Work 1 sl st in each st around the top of the wing to beginning of row 2. Fasten off leaving a long tail to stitch the end of the wing together.
Beak
Using (162) Black Coffee work 3 ch.
Work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook and 1 hdc in last st. Fasten off leaving a long tail to stitch the beak to the bird.
Legs
Join (254) Moon Rock to 1st bridal white st as shown for a bird bending down or 4th st of bridal white for the bird standing tall.
7 ch, miss 1 ch, work 1 sl st in each of next 2 ch, 3 ch, miss 1 ch and work 1 sl st in each of next 2 sts, sl st in top of last claw, 2 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch to body. Sl st in body. Fasten off.
Miss 2 sts on body and join (254) Moon Rock to next st and work the 2nd leg the same as the 1st leg.
To Make Up
Weave in ends, weaving the wing and tail pieces together if desired.
Stitch the wing to the robin.
Sew the beak to the head.
Attach a bead for the eye or embroider on an eye.
