Crochet Pram Pattern (UK Version)

Welcome to my crochet pram pattern. The finished crochet pram applique will look like this.

Crochet Pram Pattern

Abbreviations

st – stitch
sts – stitches
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
dc – double crochet
htr – half treble crochet
tr – treble crochet
dtr – double treble crochet

Materials Used

2 colours of cotton or wool, I used 4 ply crochet cotton.
A crochet hook, I used a 1.25mm hook.
Scissors.
Darning needle to weave in ends.
Sewing thread and a sewing needle to stitch the pram together.
Bead for flower if desired.

Size

Large (Using 8 ply wool)

11.5cm x 13cm or 4.5” x 5”

Medium (Using 4 ply crochet cotton)

7.5cm x 9cm or 2.75” x 3.5”

Carriage

Using main colour work 8 ch.

Row 1: Work 2 dc in 2^nd ch from hook, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (9 sts)

Row 2: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1^st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)

Row 3: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1^st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (13 sts)

Row 4: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1^st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (15 sts)

Row 5: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1^st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (17 sts)

Row 6: 1 ch, 2 dc in 1^st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (19 sts)

Row 7: 3 ch, 2 tr in 1^st st, 1 htr in next st, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, 2 tr in last st. Don’t Fasten off. (21 sts)

Neatening Row

1 ch, work 1 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st in top of 1^st st. Fasten off.

Carriage Trim

Join contrast cotton to 1^st st on top of carriage.

2 ch, work 1 htr in each st along top. Fasten off.

Inner Wheel (Make 2)

Using main colour make a magic loop.

1 ch, work 8 dc into circle. Pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of 1^st st. Don’t fasten off.

Spokes

5 ch, work (1 tr in next st, 2 ch) 7 times, sl st into 3^rd ch. Fasten off.

Join contrast cotton to any tr of spokes.

1 ch, work 1 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st in top of 1^st st. Fasten off.

Handle

Join contrast cotton to 1^st st at top of pram.

9 ch.

Work 1 dc in 2^nd ch from hook, 2 dc in each of next 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Sl st into next st on carriage trim. Fasten off.

Handle End

Using main colour make a magic loop.

1 ch, work 4 dc into circle. Pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of 1^st st. Fasten off.

Hood

Using main colour make a magic loop.

Row 1: 3 ch, work 4 tr into circle, pull circle tight but don’t join. Turn.

Row 2: 3 ch, work 2 tr in each st. Turn.

Row 3: 3 ch, work 1 tr in 1^st st, (1 tr in next st and 2 tr in following st) repeat to end of row. Turn.

Row 4: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each of 1^st 2 sts and 2 htr in following st, (1 tr in next st and 2 tr in following st) 2 times, then (1 dtr in next st and 2 dtr in following st) to end of row. Don’t fasten off.
