Crochet Pomeranian Pattern

Welcome to my crochet Pomeranian pattern. This pattern was another request. This is what the finished Pomeranian applique will look like.

Crochet Pomeranian Pattern

Abbreviations

Materials Used 

Size

Medium Pomeranian (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)

7cm wide x 9.5cm high or 2.75” wide x 3.75” high

Small Pomeranian (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)

5.5cm wide x 8cm high or 2.25” wide x 3” high

Mouth

Using (110) Black work 6 ch.

 

Row 1:  Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 2 dc in following ch, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 sc in last ch. Fasten off.

Muzzle

Join (179) Topaz to 1st st of row 1 of mouth.

Row 1:  1 ch, work 1 sc in same st as join, 1 sc in each of last 5 sts. Turn. (6 sts)

Row 2:  1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, a joined sc over the last 2 sts. Turn. (4 sts)

Row 3:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts and a joined hdc over the last 2 sts. Fasten off.

Around Muzzle

Using (254) Moon Rock work 3 ch, join to corner st of mouth.

Work 1 sc in each st around the muzzle and to the corner st of the mouth (10 sts). Work 3 ch. (3 ch + 10 sts + 3 ch).  Fasten off.

Nose

Using (110) Black make a magic loop.

 

1 ch, work 1 sc in circle, sl st in the circle. Pull the circle tight and fasten off. I left a long tail to attach it to the muzzle.

Top of Head

Join (179) Topaz to the back of 1st ch on the wrong side where shown.

Row 1: (Work into front loop only around muzzle) 1 ch, work 1 sc in same ch as join, 1 sc in next ch, a joined sc over last ch and 1st st around the muzzle, 1 sc in each of next 8 sts around the muzzle, a joined sc over last st and 1st ch, 1 sc in each of last 2 ch. Turn. (14 sts)

Row 2:  1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, a joined sc over next 2 sts, 1 sc in each of following 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 sc each of following 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 sc in each of following 2 sts, a joined sc over next 2 sts, 2 sc in last st. Fasten off. (16 sts)

Join (383) Ginger Gold to 1st st of row 2.

Row 3:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in same st as join, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, a joined sc over following 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in following st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in following st, 1 sc in next st, a joined sc over following 2 sts, 1 hdc in each of last 3 sts. Turn. (16 sts)

Row 4:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, a joined hdc over the next 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 8 sts, (a joined hdc over following 2 sts) 2 times. Turn. (12 sts)

Row 5:  1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, 1 dc and 1 tr in following st, 1 tr and 1 dc in next st, 1 sc in each of following 2 sts, 1 dc and 1 tr in next st, 1 tr and 1 dc in following st, 1 sc in next st, a joined sc over last 2 sts. 1 sc in 1st st down the side, 2 hdc in next st, 1 sc in following st, sl st in end of ch. Don’t fasten off.

Front

Use the Ginger Gold left from the top of the head.

 

Row 1:  Work 1 sc in 1st ch, 1 sc in the next ch, a joined sc over the last ch and side of the muzzle, work 7 sc around the bottom of the mouth, a joined sc over the side of the muzzle and 1st ch, 1 sc in each of last 2 ch and each of next 4 sts up the side of the head. (17 sts). Fasten off.

Join (404) English Tea to 1st st of row 1.

Row 2:  2 ch, working into the back loop only work 2 hdc in same st as join, 1 hdc in next st, a joined hdc over following 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 11 sts. Turn. (15 sts)

Row 3:  1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to last 4 sts, 1 hdc in each of last 4 sts. Turn. (14 sts)

Row 4:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 8 sts, 1 hdc in each of last 3 sts. Turn. (13 sts)

Row 5:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined hdc over the last 2 sts. Turn. (11) sts.

Rows 6-7:  1 ch, work 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (11 sts)

Row 8: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to the last 2 sts, a joined sc over the last 2 sts. Turn. (9 sts)

Rows 9-10:  1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (9 sts)

Row 11:  1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to the last 2 sts, a joined sc over the last 2 sts. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 12:  1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 13: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in the next st, 1 dc in the following st, 1 hdc in the next st, a joined sc over the last 2 sts. Fasten off.

Neatening Row

Join (404) English Tea to 1st st of the front.

1 ch, work 1 sc in same st as join, (1 sc in next st, 2 ch) repeat to last st of the front, 1 sc in last st. Fasten off.

Side

Join (383) Ginger Gold to the 2nd st of neatening row.

Working into the back loop only of each sc sl st in next st, 1 sc in each st to last st down 1st side. Don’t fasten off.

1st Leg

Row 1:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in same st as ch, 1 hdc in back loop only of next st. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 2:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 3:  3 ch, work a 3 dc cluster working 2 into 1st st and 1 into last st. Don’t fasten off.

 

Work 1 sl st in each st down back of the leg. 1 sc in the back loop only of each of the next 2 sts, 1 hdc in each of the following 11 sts, 1 sc in the back loop only of the next st, sl st in the following st. Fasten off.

Back Side

Join (179) Topaz to 2nd st after 1st leg.

Row 1:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over same st as join and next st, 2 hdc in same st as last part of joined hdc, 1 hdc in each of next 3 sts, 2 hdc in following st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in following st, 1 dc in next st, 1 hdc in following st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, sl st in following st. Fasten off.

2nd Leg

Join (383) Ginger Gold to 1st st of the back side. I left a long tail at the beginning to use for the neatening row.

Row 1:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in 1st st, 1 dc in next st. Turn.

Row 2:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in 1st st, 2 hdc in last st. Fasten off.

Neatening Row

Using the tail left at the beginning of leg work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.

Join Topaz to st after the topaz on the side where shown.

1 ch, work 1 sc in same st as join, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in each of following 6 sts, 1 hdc and 1 sl st in next st. Fasten off.

Join (383) Ginger Gold to 6th st down the topaz where shown.

1 ch, work 1 sc in same st as join, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in each of following 3 sts, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1 sc in each of following 6 sts, sl st in next st. Fasten off.

Join Topaz in the 5th st of Topaz up from leg.

Row 1:  Work 1 sc in next st, 1 hdc in following st, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 1 hdc in each of following 7 sts, 1 sc in each of next 7 sts, sl st in following st. Turn.

Row 2:  Sl st in 1st 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 9 sts, 1 hdc in each of following 6 sts. Turn.

Row 3:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in each of 1st 5 sts, 1 sc in each of next 9 sts, sl st in each of following 5 sts. Fasten off.

Back Leg

Join (383) Ginger Gold in 3rd last st where shown. I left a long tail at the beginning to use for the neatening row.

Row 1:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over same st as join and next st, 1 hdc in last st. Turn.

Row 2:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in each st. Turn.

Row 3:  1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in last st. Fasten off.

Neatening Row

Using the tail left at the beginning of leg work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends. Stitch the nose in the centre of the muzzle.

Embroider the tongue in the middle of the mouth.

Attach a bead to each side of the muzzle.

Embroider on eyebrows, markings above muzzle between eyes and at the top of ears.

Embroider markings on cheeks, above legs and around changes of colour yarn if desired.

And there’s the finished Pomeranian applique. I’ve also made it in different sizes.
