Welcome to my crochet peacock pattern. This is what the finished peacock applique will look like.

Crochet Peacock Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- dtr – double treble crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colours (606) Grass Green, (201) Electric Blue, (254) Moon Rock and (208) Yellow Gold.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
- Scissors.
- Sewing thread and a needle to stitch the peacock together.
- Some black and white thread for the eye markings if desired.
- Thin black cotton and small blue seed beads for the head feathers if desired.
Size
Large peacock (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
13cm wide x 25cm high or 5” wide x 9.25” high
Medium peacock (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
10cm wide x 18cm high or 4” wide x 7” high
Small peacock (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
7cm wide x 13cm high or 2.75” wide x 5” high
Head & Body
Using (201) Electric Blue work 4 ch.
Row 1: Work 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 tr in next st, 1 dc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in 1st st, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)
Rows 4-6: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 9: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc and 1 htr in last st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 10: 2 ch, work 1 htr and 1 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 11: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 4 sts, 1 htr in each st to last st, 2 htr in last st. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 12: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each of 1st 5 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 13: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 14: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 15: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 16: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 17: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 18: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 19: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 20: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts and a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 21: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 22: 1 ch, work a joined dc over the 2 sts. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around to neck, a joined sl st in neck, 1 sl st in each st to the beginning of row. Fasten off.
Beak
Join (254) Moon Rock where shown.
3 ch, work a joined tr over same st as join and next st. Fasten off.
Tail
Join (606) Grass Green 10 sts up from point of the tail where shown.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 1 htr in same st as join, 1 htr in each st to point, 2 htr in point. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 2: 2 ch, work 3 htr in 1st st, 1 htr in each st to last 2 sts, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 3: 3 ch, work a joined tr over 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in each of 1st 3 sts, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 1 htr in each of following 4 sts, a joined tr over last 3 sts. Turn. (14 sts)
Row 5: 3 ch, work a joined tr over 1st 3 sts, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, 1 dc in each of following 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 2 sts, 1 htr in each of next 2 sts, 2 htr in following st, 1 htr in each of next 5 sts, a joined tr over last 3 sts. Turn. (12 sts)

Row 20: Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch and 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (22 sts)
Row 21: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (22 sts)
Row 22: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (20 sts)
Row 23: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (20 sts)
Row 24: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (18 sts)
Row 25: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (17 sts)
Row 26: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (16 sts)
Row 27: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 28: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (14 sts)
Row 29: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 30: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 31: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, 1 htr in each of following 2 sts, 1 tr in next st, 1 htr in each of following 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Fasten off.
Neatening Row
Join (606) Grass Green to 1st st of the tail.
Work 1 sl st in 1st st, 1 dc in each of next 10 sts, 1 dc in each st to 10 sts before end of the tail with either 1, 2 or 3 ch between each dc, 1 dc in each of last 10 sts of the tail. Fasten off.
Feathers (Make about 18)
Using (201) Electric Blue make a magic loop.
1 ch, work 2 dc in circle. Pull circle tight. Fasten off
Join (208) Yellow Gold to top of ch.
1 ch, work 1 dc in 1st st, 1 dc and 1 sl st in last st. Fasten off.
Wing
Using (254) Moon Rock work 4 ch.
Row 1: Work 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 tr in next st, 1 dc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 3 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 9: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 3 sts, 1 dc in each of last 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 10: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 11: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 12: 1 ch, work a joined dc over the 2 sts. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
Turn work before neatening row.
1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
Bottom Leg
Join (254) Moon Rock to 2nd st on the body where shown.
8 ch.
Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, work 1 sl st in each of next 5 ch, 1 dc in each remaining ch, sl st in the body. Fasten off.
Top Leg
Join (254) Moon Rock 2 sts up from bottom leg.
7 ch.
Work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 5 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each of next 6 ch, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each remaining ch, sl st in the body. Fasten off.
Head Feathers (Make 2)
Using thin black cotton work 10 ch tightly leaving long tails at each end to stitch a bead. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Attach the wing to the body.
Embroider on an eye and eye markings.
Sew the feathers to the tail.
Attach a bead to each end of the 2 head feathers, bend them in half and stitch them to the head.
