Top of Carriage

Using contrasting cotton ch 33 (I ch more than I think I will need).

Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts.  Holding ch against body of carriage as shown, work 1sc through the ch and carriage in each st across top. 1 sc in each of next 3 ch. If you have extra ch, pull then undone.

Row 2: 1 ch, 1 sc in each sc across.  Turn.

Row 3: 1 ch, 1 sc in each sc across.  Fasten off.

Wheels (Make 2)

Using contrasting colour make a magic loop.

1 ch, work 8 sc into loop. Pull circle tight and join with a sl st in chain.

Join main wheel colour.

Row 1: 3 ch, 1 dc in same place as ch, 2 dc in each st around.  Join with a sl st in 3rd ch.

Row 2: 3 ch, (1 dc in next st, 2 dc in following st) repeat to end.  Join with a sl st in 3rd ch.  Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends.  Stitch wheels to carriage body.

Crochet chain to fit between centres of the wheels and attach.

And here’s the train carriage in some different colors.

I hope you have enjoyed my pattern and I will be continuing the train series with an Elephant Face.
