Crochet Pattern Joining Train Series Together (UK version)

Finished front of train

Welcome to the final part of the train series, today we will be joining all of the pieces that we made in the train series together and putting them on a towel. I will also be adding them to onto 2 face washers to create a set. This is what the final set will look like.

On my Youtube channel I have uploaded a how-to video Crochet Pattern for Combining the Train Series (Train Series Part 9) to follow along. There is also the Train Series Playlist if you would like to watch all the pieces being made from the beginning.

I will be using UK terminology here, if you would like the US version go to Crochet Pattern Joining Train Series Together (US version).

Crochet Pattern for Joining the Train Series Together

Abbreviations

Materials Used

Train Track

Make a row of chain longer than the length of the track (the longer the track the more extra chain you will need as the next row and stitching the track on may pull the chain in.  I prefer to undo excess chain than have to redo the whole lot.

Row 1: Work 1 ttr in 9th st from hook, (2 ch, miss 2 ch, work 1 ttr in following ch) Repeat across until you have the desired length.

I don’t end off until I have the track nearly all stitched onto article to make sure I have the right length.

Large Smoke

16 ch.

Row 1: Miss 1st ch, 1 dc in each st across.  Continue around without turning. 3 ch, work 5 tr into end of last dc, miss 1 st on the backside of the ch, * dc in next st, (miss next 2 ch, 6 tr in next st, miss 2 sts, dc in next st) repeat once, * 6 tr in end of 1st dc.  Miss 1 dc on other side of work then repeat from * to * along the other side.  Sl st into 3rd ch.  Fasten off.

Small Smoke

10 ch.

Row 1: Miss 1st ch, 1 dc in each st across.  Continue around without turning. 3 ch, work 5 tr into end of last dc, miss 1 st on the backside of the ch, * dc in next st, miss next 2 ch, 6 tr in next st, miss 2 sts, dc in next st * 6 tr in end of 1st dc.  Miss 1 st on other side of work then repeat from * to * along the other side.  Sl st into 3rd ch.  Fasten off.

Train Coupling

Join cotton to back bumper as shown.

Row 1: 3 ch, 1 tr cluster over next 4 sts.   Continue crocheting a length of chain until you have enough to fit under next carriage.

To Make Up

Attach train track to article.  Place train pieces on track with end of coupling under the next carriage and sew down the engine, caboose and carriages except for the carriage for the giraffe.  The giraffe’s neck needs to be stitched under the carriage before stitching the carriage down.

Then attach the rest of the animals and smoke as shown.

Thank you for joining me in this series and I would love to see the results of your hard work.
