Crochet Park Blanket
For this blanket I used the Crochet Baby Blanket with Picture Panel Pattern. I worked three rows of single crochet (double crochet using UK terms) around the panel and again at the edge of the blanket using black, red and black.
Materials Used
- I used 4 250gm balls of Bendigo Woollen Mills 8 ply Luxury in Baby Mint and a small amount of each of Black and Love Heart for the borders.
- I used a 5mm crochet hook, but my tension is fairly tight.
- Scissors.
- A darning needle to weave in the ends.
- Sewing thread and needle to attach the appliqués to the panel.
Appliqués Used
All appliqués were made using Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat cotton and a 1mm hook.
Size
Size of panel 31cm wide x 46cm high or 12” wide x 18” high.
Size of finished blanket 98cm wide x 112cm high or 38.5” wide x 44” high.
If I made a similar blanket again, I’d either make the panel a bit bigger or the outside of the blanket a bit smaller to make it more balanced.
I made the centre panel of the blanket and then I positioned the appliqués on the panel. I then cut out a river in paper to go across the panel and worked the river to match the paper pattern.
Next, I crocheted rocks, grass and flowers in various colours.
All the appliqués were handstitched to the panel before I added the border around the panel and finished the blanket to make it easier to sew them down.
