Welcome to my crochet lady pattern. This was a request.  This is what the finished lady applique will look like.

Crochet Lady Pattern

Abbreviations

• st – stitch
• sts – stitches
• ch – chain
• sl st – slip stitch
• dc – double crochet
• htr – half treble crochet
• tr – treble crochet
• dtr – double treble crochet

Materials Used

• Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colours (201) Electric Blue, (105) Bridal White, (106) Snow White and (110) Black.
• A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
• A darning needle to weave in ends.
• Scissors.
• Sewing thread and a needle to stitch the lady together.

Size

Large lady (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)

21cm wide x 39cm high or 8.5” wide x 15.5” high

Medium lady (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)

14cm wide x 27cm high or 5.5” wide x 10.5” high

Small lady (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)

12cm wide x 22.5cm high or 4.75” wide x 8.75” high

Top

Using (106) Snow White work 6 ch.

 

Row 1: Work 1 dc in 2^nd ch from hook, 1 htr in each of next 3 sts, 1 dc in last st. Turn (5 sts)

Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1^st st, 1 dc in next st, 1 htr in following st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1^st 2 sts, 1 htr in each of next 3 sts, 1 dc in each of last 2 sts. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)

1st Strap

Row 13: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1^st st, a joined htr over next 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)

Row 15: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1^st st, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)

2nd Strap

Join (106) Snow White to 1^st st of row 13 where shown.

Row 1: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1^st st, a joined dc over next 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)

Row 2: 2 ch, work a joined htr over 1^st 2 sts, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)

Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in 1^st st, a joined htr over last 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 dc in 1^st st, 1 htr in last st. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Don’t turn or fasten off.

Neatening Row

Belt

Join (110) Black 3 sts before centre st at bottom of the top.

1 ch, work 1 dc in same st as join, 1 dc in each of next 5 sts. Fasten off.

Skirt

Join (201) Electric Blue to 1^st st of belt.

Row 1: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1^st st, 1 htr in next st, 1 dc in each of following 2 sts, 1 htr in next st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (8 sts)

Row 2: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1^st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (10 sts)

Row 3: 3 ch, work 2 tr in 1^st st, 1 tr in each st to last st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (12 sts)

Row 4: 3 ch, work 1 tr in each st to last st, 2 tr in last st. Turn. (13 sts)

Row 5: 3 ch, work a joined tr over 1^st 2 sts, 1 tr in each st to end. Turn. (12 sts)

Neatening Row

Join (201) Electric Blue to 1^st st of skirt.

Work 1 sl st in each st around the skirt. Fasten off.

Pleat

Using (201) Electric Blue work 17 ch.

Row 1: Miss 1^st 2 ch, work 1 htr in each remaining ch. (15 sts) Fasten off.

Join (110) Black to back loop only of 1^st st of row 1.

Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 sl st in back loop only of each st. Fasten off.

Join (201) Electric Blue halfway up row 2.

 

Row 3: Sl st in next st, work 1 dc in following st, 1 htr each st to end. Fasten off.

Join (110) Black to st before join for blue.

 

Row 4: Sl st in back loop of each st to end. Fasten off.

Join (201) Electric Blue to 1^st st of row 2.

 

Row 5: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each st to end. Fasten off.

Join (110) Black to last st of row 1.

 

Row 6: 1 ch, work 1 sl st in back of ch in each st to end. Fasten off.

Join (201) Electric Blue to 1^st st of row 6.

Row 7: 3 ch, work 1 tr in same st as join, 1 htr in next st, 1 dc in following st, sl st in next st. Fasten off.

Join (110) Black to back loop of 1^st st of row 7.

Row 8: 1 ch, work 1 sl st in back loop of each of next 6 sts. Fasten off.

Join (201) Electric Blue to 1^st st of row 8.

Row 9: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each of 1^st 5 sts, 3 htr in next st, sl st in the side of row 8 where the top of htr meets. Fasten off.

Join (110) Black to back loop of 1^st st of row 9.

Row 10: 1 ch, work 1 sl st in back loop only of each st to st after join of blue. Fasten off.

Join (201) Electric Blue to 1^st st of row 10.

Row 11: 2 ch, work 1 htr in each of 1^st 7 sts, 3 htr in next st. Sl st in the side of work. Fasten off.

Neck, Shoulders & Arms

Using (105) Bridal White work 3 ch.

 

Row 1: Miss 1^st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn. (2 sts)

Rows 2-7: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 8: 1 ch, work 2 dc in each st. 4 ch. (4 sts + 4 ch)

Row 9: Miss 1^st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc and 1 htr in last st. Turn. (9 sts)

Row 1: Work 1 dc in 2^nd ch from hook, 1 htr in next ch, 1 tr in following ch, 1 htr in next ch, 1 dc in last ch. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1^st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1^st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (9 sts)

Row 4: (7 ch, miss 1^st ch, work 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in 1^st st of row 3) 2 times, (7 ch, miss 1^st ch, work 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in next st along row 3, 7 ch, miss 1^st ch, work 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in next st along row 3, 7 ch, miss 1^st ch, work 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in same st along row 3). Beret

Using (201) Electric Blue work 9 ch.

 

Row 1: Miss 1^st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. 3 ch. (8 sts + 3 ch)

Row 2: Miss 1 ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch and each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)

Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1^st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (13 sts)

Row 4: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1^st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 3 sts, a joined dc over last 3 sts. Turn. (10 sts)

Row 5: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1^st 3 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1^st 4 sts, 1 ch, sl st in same st as last part of joined dc, 4 ch, miss 1^st ch, work 1 sl st in each remaining ch, sl st in beret. Don’t turn or fasten off.

Row 3: 1 ch, working into the back loop only work a joined dc over 1^st 2 sts and a joined dc over same st as last part of joined dc and last st. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 dc in each st. Turn. (4 sts)

Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Fasten off.

Join (110) Black to 1^st loop left on row 2.

Row 1: 1 ch. work 1 dc in same st as join, 1 dc in loop left in next st. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 2: 1 ch, work a joined dc over the 2 sts. 3 ch.

Row 3: Miss 1^st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch, sl st in st from row 2. Fasten off.

Left Leg

Using (105) Bridal White work 4 ch.

 

Row 1: Miss 1^st ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (3 sts)

Rows 2-3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (3 sts)

Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1^st 2 sts, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (4 sts)

Rows 5-6: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (4 sts)

Row 7: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 8: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (4 sts)

Row 9: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (4 sts)

Row 10: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1^st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (3 sts)

Row 21: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)

Neatening Row

Work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.

Left Shoe

Using (110) Black make a magic loop.

 

Row 1: 1 ch, work 2 dc in circle. Pull circle tight. Turn. (2 sts)

Rows 2-3: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 4: 1 ch, work a joined dc over the 2 sts. Turn.  (1 st)

Rows 5-7: 1 ch, work 1 dc in st. Turn. (1 st)

Row 8: 1 ch, work 1 dc in st. 4 ch. (1 st + 4 ch)

Row 9: Miss 1^st ch, work 1 sl st in each of next 2 ch, 1 dc in last ch, 3 dc in st. Turn.

Row 10: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1^st 2 sts, sl st in next st. Take loop behind the heel to 1^st st. Work 1 sl st in each st around to top back of shoe. Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends. Stitch the pleat in behind the skirt.

Sew the top to the shoulders and arms.

Pull the hair into desired shape using the thread.

Attach the head to the neck.

Stitch the beret to the head.

Sew the shoes to the feet.

Attach the legs in behind the skirt.

And there’s the finished lady applique. I’ve also made her in different sizes and colours.
