Crochet Ice Cream Pattern

Welcome to my crochet ice cream pattern. This is a request that I received. This is what the finished ice cream applique will look like.

Crochet Ice Cream Pattern

Abbreviations 

Materials Used 

Size

Large ice cream (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)

11cm wide x 14cm high or 4.5” wide x 5.5” high

Medium ice cream (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)

7cm wide x 9cm high or 2.5” wide x 3.5” high

Small ice cream (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)

5cm wide x 6.5cm high or 2” wide x 2.5” high

Cone

Using (179) Topaz work 4 ch.

 

Row 1: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in next st, 1 sc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)

Row 2: 3 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 3: 3 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 4: 3 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (9 sts)

Row 5: 3 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)

Row 6: 3 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (13 sts)

Row 7: 3 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (15 sts)

Row 8: 3 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. (17 sts). Don’t turn or fasten off.

Neatening Row

1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around sides and bottom but not along top. Fasten off.

Ice Cream

Using (106) Snow White work 6 ch.

 

Row 1: Work 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 2: 1 ch, work 3 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 3 sc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)

Row 3: 2 ch, work 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 hdc in last st. Turn. (13 sts)

Row 4: 2 ch, work 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 hdc in last st. Turn. (15 sts)

Row 5: 2 ch, work 3 hdc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 3 hdc in last st. Turn. (19 sts)

Row 6: 2 ch, work 1 hdc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 1 hdc in last st. Turn. (19 sts)

Row 7: 2 ch, work 3 hdc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 hdc in last st. Turn. (22 sts)

Row 8: 2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn. (20 sts)

Row 9: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (19 sts)

Row 10: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 3 sts, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (16 sts)

Row 11: 3 ch, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, sl st in last st of row 10, sl st in next st, 1 ch, work a joined sc over next 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, a joined sc over following 2 sts. Turn.

Row 12: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts and a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 13: 2 ch, work a joined hdc over the 2 sts. Fasten off.

Next Drip

Miss 1 st along row 10 and join (106) Snow White to next st.

Row 1: 1 ch, work a joined sc over next 2 sts and a joined sc over following 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 2: 2 ch, work a joined hdc over the 2 sts. Fasten off.

Last Drip

Join (106) Snow White to next st along row 10.

4 ch.

 

Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in last ch. Sl st in last st of row 10. Don’t turn or fasten off.

Neatening Row

1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.

Chocolate

Using (162) Black Coffee work 6 ch.

 

Row 1: Work 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 2: 1 ch, work 3 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 3 sc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)

Row 3: 2 ch, work 2 hdc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 hdc in last st. Turn. (13 sts)

Row 4: (5 ch, miss 1st  ch and work 1 sc in each remaining ch, 1 sl st in next st on row 3, 2 ch, a joined hdc over same st as ch and next st, 2 ch, sl st in same st as last part of joined hdc, sl st in next st) 2 times, sl st in next 2 sts, 8 ch, work 2 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1 sc in each remaining ch, sl st in next st, 1 dc in following st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in following st, 4 ch, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each remaining ch, sl st in last st. Don’t turn or fasten off.

Neatening Row

1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around to the beginning of row 4. Fasten off.

Cherry

Using (115) Hot Red work 7 ch.

 

Row 1: Work 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sl st in following st, 1 hdc in next st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 3: 3 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Don’t turn or fasten off.

Neatening Row

1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends. Stitch the cherry to the chocolate.

Attach the chocolate to the ice cream.

Embroider small dots of different colors to the ice cream for sprinkles.

Stitch the ice cream to the cone.

And there’s the finished ice cream applique. I’ve also made it in different sizes and colors.
