Welcome to my crochet fishing boy pattern. This pattern was another request. This is what the finished fishing boy applique will look like.

Crochet Fishing Boy Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- dc – double crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton color (110) Black.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
- Thread and needle to stitch the boy together.
- Scissors.
Size
Large boy (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
7cm wide x 12cm high or 3” wide x 4.75” high
Medium boy (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
6.5cm wide x 11cm high or 2.75” wide x 4.5” high
Small boy (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
6cm wide x 9cm high or 2.25” wide x 3.5” high
Boy
Using (110) Black make a magic loop.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 1 sc in circle. Pull circle tight. Turn. (1 st)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 3 sc in st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of the 5 sts. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 5: 1 sl st in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts.
Row 6: 2 ch, work 2 hdc in 1st st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work 2 sc in each st. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each remaining st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 9: 2 ch, work 1 hdc in 1st st, 1 sc in each remaining st. Turn. (5 sts)
Rows 10-11: 1 ch, 1 sc in each st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 12: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 1 sc, 1 hdc and 1 dc in last st. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 13: 3 ch, work 1 dc, 1 hdc and 1 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Row 14: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 1 sc, 1 hdc and 1 dc in last st. 2 ch. (8 sts + 2 ch)
Row 15: Miss 1 ch, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, a joined sc over 1st 2 sts. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 16: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 17: 2 ch, work 1 hdc in 1st st, 1 sc in last st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 18: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 19: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 20: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 4 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next ch, 1 hdc in last ch, sl st in last st of row 19. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
Work 1 sl st in each st to 2nd st after top of leg, 6 ch, miss 2 ch, work a joined hdc over next 2 ch, 1 ch, work 1 sc in each remaining ch, sl st in body. 1 sl st in each st to face, 2 ch, 1 hdc in same st as sl st, sl st in next st, 2 ch, sl st in same st, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in last st, 1 sc in 1st st around corner, 3 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in last ch, 1 sc in each st to 2nd last st of head, 3 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in last ch, sl st in each st to last st before bottom of foot. Fasten off.
Fishing Rod
Using (110) Black work 13 ch.
Miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each of next 2 ch, 1 sl st in each remaining ch. Fasten off. I left a tail to stitch the rod to the hand.
Fishing Line
Join (110) Black to the 2nd last sc at end of rod.
Work 30 ch or desired amount. To work a sinker, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Attach the fishing rod to hand.
