Crochet Finger Puppets

Welcome to my crochet finger puppet article. I’ve turned some of my appliques into finger puppets as a little girl I baby sit loves singing nursery rhymes.

I used the easy frog pattern and 8 ply wool to make this frog finger puppet for “Galumph Went The Little Green Frog”. The backing for this puppet is green felt and I stitched the felt to the back of the crocheted frog with my sewing machine leaving it open between the bottom of the legs.

The easy cat pattern, felt and 4 ply crochet cotton was used to make the cat for “I Love Little Pussy”.  I sewed the felt to the back of the cat with the sewing machine leaving it open between the head and halfway up the tail.

I made 2 cars from the easy car pattern, used felt for the windows and brown paint for the dirty car for “At The Car Wash” song.  I used 8 ply wool to crochet the cars and joined them together with slip stitch but left open between halfway up the wheels, the felt was stitched behind the windows with a sewing machine before joining the cars together.

The turtle for “I Had a Little Turtle” was made with 4 ply crochet cotton using the turtle crochet pattern.  Green felt was attached using a sewing machine to the back leaving it open at the back of the turtle for your finger.

I used the teddy and accessories crochet pattern, which is a pattern for sale at my Ravelry store to make the teddy for “Teddy Bear Teddy Bear”.  I used 4 ply crochet cotton to make the teddy, made an extra dress piece for the back and stitched felt to the back of the teddy by sewing machine leaving an opening for your finger and then attached the dress piece to the back.

The spider for “There’s a Spider on The Floor” was made out of 8 ply wool using the spider finger puppet crochet pattern.

I made the plane crochet applique into a finger puppet using 4 ply crochet cotton and felt for the back to use for the song “I’m a Little Airplane”.  The felt was stitched to the plane using my sewing machine and left open along the bottom wing.

The penguin crochet pattern was used to make a finger puppet to use for the “Penguin Songs”.  I crocheted the penguin in 4 ply crochet cotton and sewed black felt to the back leaving it open across the legs.

I attached felt to all the animals to use in “Old Macdonald Had a Farm” to be used on the felt board.  All appliques were crocheted in 4 ply crochet cotton. The animals I used are the horse, the chicken, the cow, the basset hound, the pig, the cat, the sheep and the mallard duck.

The horse crochet pattern, 4 ply crochet cotton and felt was used for “Who am I, a Horse”  The felt was attached to the horse using my sewing machine, leaving an opening between the legs.

I used the cow crochet pattern, 4 ply crochet cotton and felt for “Who am I, a Cow”.  I stitched the felt to the back of the cow using my sewing machine, leaving an opening between the legs.

The cloud crochet pattern, 8 ply wool and felt was used for the finger puppet for “A Cloud” song.  I used my sewing machine to stitch the felt to the back of the cloud leaving a gap at the bottom for a finger.

I used a thick silver crochet  cotton to crochet the star for “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”.  Felt was attached to the back and a gap left at the bottom.

The easy elephant crochet pattern was used to make elephants for “Hey-Dee-Ho” and “Five Grey Elephants Balancing”.  All elephants were made using 4 ply crochet  cotton and grey felt was attached to the backs using my sewing machine.  A gap was left between the elephants legs.  I worked a length of chain to use as string for the elephants to balance on.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed these crochet finger puppets.
