Welcome to my second pattern design and how-to video, today I will be showing you how to make this crochet dog with a bone.The completed dog with a bone pattern will look like this.

Dog with a Bone Crochet Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- dc – double crochet
- tr – treble crochet
Materials Used
- Crochet cotton or wool, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colours (254) Moon Rock, (106) Snow White, (222) Tulip and (110) Black.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- Thread and sewing needle to sew dog together.
- Darning needle to weave in ends.
Size
Medium dog (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
9cm x 8cm or 3.5” x 3”
Small dog (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
8.5cm x 7cm or 3.25” x 2.75”
Head
Make a magic loop.
Row 1: 3 ch. Work 14 dc into circle, pull circle tight. Join with a sl st in 3rd ch.
Row 2: 3 ch. Work 2 dc into each st. Join with a sl st in 3rd ch.
Row 3: 3 ch. (Work 1 dc in each of next 2 sts and 2 dc in following st), repeat to end, sl st in 3rd ch.
Row 4: 3 ch. (Work 1 dc in each of next 2 sts and 2 dc in following st), repeat to end, sl st in 3rd ch.
Ears
Row 1: 3 ch, work 1 dc in each of next 5 sts. Turn.
Row 2: 3 ch, work 1 joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, 1 joined dc over last 2 sts Turn.
Row 3: 3 ch, work 2 joined dc over next 4 sts. Turn.
Row 4: 3 ch, work a joined dc over remaining sts. Fasten off.
Miss 10 sts, join yarn for 2nd ear and work the same as first ear.
Muzzle
4 ch.
Into 3rd ch from hook work 1 hdc, 1 dc and 1 tr, into the next ch work 1 tr, 1 dc and 1 hdc, 2 ch sl st into same place as last sts, sl st into back of chains. Work 2 ch, then working into the back of the ch work 1 hdc, 1 dc and 1 tr into first ch and 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc into 2nd ch, 2 ch, sl st into same place as last hdc. Fasten off.
Tongue
Make a magic loop.
3 ch, work a joined dc. Pull circle tight but don’t join. Fasten off.
Nose
Make a magic loop.
1 ch, work 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, into circle. Pull circle tight and join with a sl in ch. Fasten off.
Outer Eye (Make 2)
Using white make a magic loop.
2 ch, work 8 hdc in circle. Pull circle tight and join with a sl st in 2nd ch. Fasten off.
Inner Eye (Make 2)
Using black make a magic loop.
1 ch, work 5 sc in circle. Pull circle tight and join with a sl st in ch. Fasten off.
Paws (Make 2)
8 ch.
Row 1: 1 dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts. Turn.
Row 2: 3 ch, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn.
Row 3: (3 ch, 1 joined dc over same st as ch and next st, 3 ch sl st in same place as last dc, sl st in next st) repeat twice. Fasten off.
Bone
25 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each st to last st. Into last ch work 4 ch, a 3 tr cluster, 4 ch sl st in same st, 4 ch a 3 tr cluster, 4 ch, sl st in same st. Work 1 sc in each st along back of ch sts. Into last ch work 4 ch, a 3 tr cluster, 4 ch, sl st in same st, 4 ch, a 3 tr cluster, 4 ch, sl st in same st.
Row 2: 1 ch, 1 sc in each st around. (To make a bigger bone work 1 hdc in each st on the straight parts and 2 hdc in each st around the curves).
To Make Up
Attach inner eyes to outer eyes.
Stitch the tongue and nose to the muzzle.
Sew the muzzle to the face. Attach the eyes above the muzzle.
Stitch the paws to the head.
Attach the bone to the dog. And the finished crochet dog with a bone will look like this.
