Crochet Coral Pattern

Welcome to my crochet coral pattern. This is a request that I received. This is what the finished coral applique will look like.

Crochet Coral Pattern

Abbreviations

Materials Used 

Size

Large coral (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)

22cm wide x 23cm high or 8.5” wide x 9” high

Medium coral (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)

17cm wide x 16cm high or 6.5” wide x 6.25” high

Small coral (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)

12cm wide x 13cm high or 4.75” wide x 5” high

Stem & 1st Branch

Using (410) Rich Coral work 25 ch,

Miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each of next 6 sts, 5 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 3 ch of original ch, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next of original ch and 2 sc in following ch.

2nd Branch

30 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 5 ch, 6 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and following 3 of original ch, 12 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 ch, 5 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 3 of original ch, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 3 sts, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in side of sc and next 6 sts, (4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 5 of original ch) 2 times.

3rd Branch

25 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 ch, 6 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 ch, 5 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 2 ch, 6 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in side of sc and next 5 of original ch, (4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 4 sts of original ch) 2 times, 3 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and each ch to stitch before join of last branch.

4th Branch

20 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 ch, 12 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 ch, 5 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 3 ch, 6 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 3 ch, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 5 sts, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 6 sts, 9 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in next 4 ch, 5 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and each ch until 2 ch after join of  2nd branch.

5th Branch

15 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in next 4 sts, 6 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 9 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 2 ch, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 3 sts, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch and next 5 sts, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 2 ch, 3 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 10 sts.

6th Branch

11 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 6 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 4 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and next 5 sts, 3 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sc in each remaining ch, in the side of sc and each st down branch and to end of stem.

Row 2: 1 ch, sl st in other side of 1st ch, 1 ch, 1 sc in each ch to 1st branch, 1 sl st and 1 ch in each st to end of 6th branch.  Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends.

And there’s the finished coral applique. I’ve also made it in different sizes and colors.
