Welcome to my crochet cement mixer pattern. This is a request that I received. The finished cement mixer applique will look like this.

Crochet Cement Mixer Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- htr – half treble crochet
- tr – treble crochet
Materials Used
- Crochet cotton or wool, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colours (390) Poppy Rose, (215) Royal Blue, (208) Yellow Gold, (074) Mercury and (110) Black.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- Scissors.
- Darning needle to weave in ends. Sewing thread and needle to stitch the cement mixer together.
- Black thread to embroider on a door handle if desired.
Size
Large cement mixer (Using 8 ply crochet cotton & a 3mm hook)
14.5cm x 12cm or 5.75” x 4.75”
Medium cement mixer (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
10.5cm x 8cm or 4” x 3.25”
Small cement mixer (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
8cm x 6.5cm or 3.25” x 2.5”
Truck Body
Using main colour work 30 chain.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch and work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (29 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (31 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (30 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 13 sts. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (13 sts)
Row 6: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 7: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 8: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 9: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of 1st 7 sts, a joined dc over last 3 sts. Turn. (8 sts)
Rows 10-12: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 13: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts and a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn. (7 sts)
Neatening Row
1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts then 1 dc in each st along sides and 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc in each corner st to beginning of row. Sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Arm
Using main colour make a magic loop.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 10 htr in circle. Pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of 1st st.
Row 2: 4 ch, sl st into 7th st from cab on body, sl st into each of next 2 sts on body towards cab, work 2 tr in 1st ch, work 1 tr in each remaining ch, sl st into edge of circle. Fasten off.
Barrel
Using 1st contrast colour work 8 ch.
Row 1: Work 2 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn.
Row 3: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn.
Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn.
Row 5: 1 ch, work 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st. Turn.
Rows 6-10: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn.
Row 11: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn.
Row 12: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn.
Row 13: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn.
Row 14: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Turn.
Row 15: 1 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined dc over last 2 sts. Turn.
Row 16: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st along sides and 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc in corner sts. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Window
Using grey work 5 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch and work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st on sides and 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc in corner sts. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Barrel Stripe
Using 2nd contrast colour work 12 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch and work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn.
Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end. Don’t fasten off.
Neatening Row
1 ch, work 1 dc in each st along sides and 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc in each corner st. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Inner Wheels (Make 3)
Using grey make a magic loop.
1 ch, work 8 dc into circle, pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
Outer Wheels
Join black cotton to any stitch of inner wheel.
2 ch, work 2 tr in each st to end of row. Join with a sl st in top of 1st st. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Stitch window to cab where shown.
Attach the barrel stripe to the middle of the barrel.
Embroider a door handle to the cab just below the window if desired.
Sew the barrel behind the arm with the narrower end pointing towards the back.
Stitch the wheels to the body of the truck.
