Welcome to my crochet beach umbrella pattern. The finished beach umbrella crochet applique will look like this.

Crochet Beach Umbrella Pattern
Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- hd – half double crochet
- dc – double crochet
- tr – treble crochet
Materials Used
- 3 colors of cotton or wool, I used 4 ply crochet cotton.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1.25mm hook.
- Scissors.
- Darning needle to weave in ends.
Size
Large (Using 8 ply wool)
19cm x 23cm or 7.5” x 9”
Medium (Using 4 ply crochet cotton)
13cm x 15cm or 5” x 6”
1st Section
Make a magic loop.
Row 1: 2 ch, into circle work 3 dc, 4 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 4 sc and 1 hdc. Pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of 1st st.
Row 2: 3 ch, 2 tr in next st, 1 dc and 1 hdc in following st, 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, 1 hdc and 1 dc in following st, 2 tr in next st, 1 dc in next st. Fasten off.
2nd Section
Join contrast color to top of 1st tr as shown.
Row 1: 3 ch, work 1 dc in same st as ch, 2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc and 1 sc in following st, 1 sc in each of next 8 sts, 1 sc and 1 hdc in following st, 2 hdc in next st, 2 dc in last st. Turn.
Row 2: 3 ch, 1 dc in same st as ch, 2 dc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in following st, (1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 1 dc in following st) 3 times, 1 hdc in next st, 2 dc in following st, 1 dc in next st, 1 dc in top of ch. Fasten off.
3rd Section
Join main color to top of 1st st on right side.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 1 hdc in same st as ch, 1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in following st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, (1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts) 3 times, 1 hdc in following st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in following st, 1 hdc in top of ch. Turn.
Row 2: 2 ch, 1 hdc in same st as ch, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1 hdc, 1 dc and 1 hdc in following st, (1 sc in each of next 5 sts, 1 hdc, 1 dc and 1 hdc in following st) 3 times, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1 hdc in top of ch. Fasten off.
4th Section
Join contrast color to top of 1st st on right side.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 1 hdc in same st as ch, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, (1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 7 sts) 3 times, 1 hdc in next st,1 sc in each of following 2 sts, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1 hdc in top of ch. Turn.
Row 2: 2 ch, 1 hdc in same st as ch, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, (1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 7 sts) 3 times, 1 hdc in next st,1 sc in each of following 2 sts, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1 hdc in top of ch. Fasten off.
5th Section
Join main color to top of 1st st on right side.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 1 hdc in same st as ch, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, (1 hdc, 1 dc and 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 7 sts) 3 times, 1 hdc, 1 dc and 1 hdc in following st,1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 1 hdc in following st, 1 hdc in top of ch. Turn.
Row 2: 2 ch, 1 hdc in same st as ch, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, (1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 9 sts) 3 times, 1 hdc in next st,1 sc in each of following 4 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in top of ch. Fasten off.
6th Section
Join contrast color to top of 1st st on right side.
Row 1: 2 ch, 1 hdc in same st as ch, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, (1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 9 sts) 3 times, 1 hdc in next st,1 sc in each of following 4 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in top of ch. Turn.
Row 2: 2 ch, 1 hdc in same st as ch, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, (1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 9 sts) 3 times, 1 hdc in next st,1 sc in each of following 4 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in top of ch. Fasten off.
7th Section
Join main color to top of 1st st on right side.
4 ch, work 1 tr in same st as ch, 1 tr in each of next 6 sts, 4 ch, sl st in same st as last tr, (sl st in next st, 4 ch, work 1 tr in each of next 9 sts, 4 ch, sl st in same st as last tr,) 3 times, sl st in next st, 4 ch, work 1 tr in each st to end. Fasten off.
Pole
50 ch.
Miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, miss these sts. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Stitch the pole behind the umbrella having the end chain of the pole sticking through the centre circle of the umbrella.
