Crochet Beach Towel Pattern (UK Version)

Welcome to my crochet beach towel pattern. This pattern was another request. This is what the finished beach towel applique will look like.

Crochet Beach Towel Pattern

Abbreviations

Materials Used 

Size

Large beach towel (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)

10.5cm wide x 17cm high or 4” wide x 6.5” high

Medium beach towel (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)

6.5cm wide x 11cm high or 2.5” wide x 4.25” high

Small beach towel (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)

5.5cm wide x 9.5cm high or 2” wide x 3.75” high

Towel

Using (115) Hot Red work 21 ch.

 

Row 1:  Miss 1st ch, work 1 htr in each remaining ch.  Turn.  (20 sts)

 

Join in (110) Black and fasten off the Hot Red.

Row 2:  1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end.  Turn.  (20 sts)

 

Join in (201) Electric Blue.  I worked over the black to take it to the other side.

Row 3:  1 ch, work 1 htr in each st.  Turn.  (20 sts)

 

Change to (110) Black and fasten off the Electric Blue.

Row 4:  1 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end.  Turn.  (20 sts)

 

Join in (115) Hot Red.  I worked over the black to take it to the other side.

 

Row 5:  1 ch, work 1 htr in each st.  Turn.  (20 sts)

Change to (110) Black and fasten off the Hot Red.

 

Repeat rows 2-5 5 times.  Fasten off the Hot Red but leave the Black attached for the neatening row.

Neatening Row

Using the black work 1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st along the long edge, 1 sl st in 1st st along the short edge, (1 ch, sl st in next st,) repeat to last st of short edge, 1 sl st in each st along the long edge, 1 sl st in 1st st along the short edge, (1 ch, sl st in next st,) repeat to last st of short edge, 1 sl st in each st to end of row.  Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends.

And there’s the finished beach towel applique. I’ve also made it in different sizes and colours.
