Crochet Beach Huts Pattern

Welcome to my crochet beach huts pattern. This was a request and I’ve made it with a few different ornaments for the hut. The finished huts will look like this.

Crochet Beach Huts Pattern

Abbreviations 

Materials Used

Size 

Large beach hut (Using 8 ply wool)

19cm x 12cm or 7.5” x 4.5”

Medium beach hut (Using 4 ply crochet cotton)

13cm x 8cm or 5” x 3.5”

Hut

Using main color work 21 ch.

Row 1:  Miss 3 ch and work 1 dc in each st to end.  Turn.

Rows 2-12:  3 ch, work 1 dc in each st to end.  Turn.

Rows 13-15:  3 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 3 sts, 1 dc in each st to last 3 sts, a joined dc over last 3 sts.  Turn.

Row 16:  3 ch, work a joined dc over 1st 3 sts and a joined dc over last 3 sts.  Turn.

Row 17:  2 ch, a joined hdc over the 2 sts.  Don’t fasten off.

Neatening Row

1 ch, work 1 sc in each st along straight edges and 1 sc, 1 ch and 1 sc in each corner st.  join with a sl st in 1st st.  Fasten off.

Roof

Using contrast color work 40 ch.  (I work more than I think I will need and undo the left-over chain).

Miss 3 ch, work 1 dc in each of next 2 ch, start working the roof from the 1st row of decreasing, holding the chain against the slope of the hut as shown, work 1 dc through the ch and hut in each st to the point of the hut, work 2 dc in the point of the hut, continue working 1 dc in each st through both the ch and the hut down the other slope until the roof is even.  Work 1 dc in each of the next 2 ch, 2 ch, sl st in same st as last dc.  Fasten off.  Undo any remaining chain.

Door

10 ch.

Row 1:  Miss 3 ch and work 1 dc in each st to end.  Turn.

Rows 2-5:   3 ch, work 1 dc in front loop only of each st to end.  Turn.

Row 6:  3 ch, work 1 dc in front loop only of each st to end.  Don’t fasten off.

Neatening Row

1 ch, work 1 sc in each st along straight edges and 1 sc, 1 ch and 1 sc in each corner st.  join with a sl st in 1st st.  Fasten off.

Bunting

Chain for Bunting

Make a length of ch to go from one side of the hut at bottom of roof to the other side.  Leave long ends on each side to fasten to the back of the hut.

Flags (Make as many flags evenly across your chain as desired)

Join cotton in chain for bunting.

4 ch, 1 joined tr over next 2 sts. Fasten off.

Heart

Make a magic loop.

1 ch, into circle work 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 ch, sl st in circle, 2 ch, 1 hdc, 1 sc and 1 hdc, pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of 1st st.  Fasten off.

Flagpole

Join cotton to top of roof.

8 ch, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook.  Fasten off.

Flagpole Flag

Join cotton 3 sts up from bottom of flagpole.

5 ch,

Work a sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next st, 1 hdc in following st and 2 dc in last st.  Sl st in flagpole.  Fasten off.

Round Window

Make a magic loop.

Row 1:  2 ch, work 14 dc in circle.  Pull circle tight and join with a sl st in top of 1st st.

Row 2:  1 ch, 1 sc in same st as ch, (1 sc in next st, 2 sc in following st) repeat to end of row.  Join with a sl st in top of 1st st.  Fasten off.

Life Buoy

Make a large magic loop as shown.

1 ch, into circle work 5 sc, (change to contrast color and work 5 sc into circle, change to main color and work 5 sc into circle) repeat 1 more time, change to contrast color and work 5 sc into circle.  Ease circle in and join with a sl st in top of 1st st.  Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends.  Embroider a doorknob on door.

Stitch door to the hut.

If using bunting attach it near the bottoms of the roof using the ends of the chain.

Sew the lifebuoy to the hut if desired.

If using a round window stitch the window markings on the window as shown.

Attach the window to the hut.

Stitch the heart to the hut if desired.
