Crochet Baby Beanie Pattern (UK Version)

Welcome to my crochet baby beanie pattern. I make beanies and other items for charity so thought I’d show you the baby beanies I make.

There’s also a video tutorial for this pattern available on my YouTube channel at crochet baby beanie tutorial.

To view this pattern for free, continue to scroll down this page. If you want to download the ad-free version, it’s available on my Ravelry store for $1 at crochet baby beanie pattern and on LoveCrafts at crochet baby beanie pattern.

This pattern will be using UK terminology. If you want to view the US version, go to crochet baby beanie pattern (US version).

Some of the appliques I used to decorate the beanies are the small bee, the small cat, car and frog appliques.  The bees were made with 2 ply cotton.  All the other appliqués I’ve added were made using DMC number 20 cotton.

Leaving a long tail at beginning to stitch the side seam work chain to measure the beanie height plus 4cm or 1 1/2 inches for the brim and top.

Row 1:  Miss 1st ch, work 1 dc in each remaining ch. Turn.

Row 2:  1 ch, working into back loop only of each stitch except 1st and last stitch where you work into both loops, work 1 dc in each st.  Turn.

Repeat row 2 until work measures the beanie circumference.  Fasten off leaving a tail to stitch around the top.

To Make Up

Stitch the side seam together.

Sew through the work about ½ an inch from the top and pull tight to ease in the top and make it secure.

Attach appliqués if desired.

And there’s the finished baby beanie with the small cat appliqué. I’ve also made it with the small bee, the car, the frog and a tiny teddy.
