Chicken Crochet Pattern (UK Version)

Welcome to my chicken crochet pattern. The crochet chicken will look like this.

Chicken Crochet Pattern

Abbreviations

Materials Used

Head

Make a magic loop.

Row 1:  3 ch. Work 14 tr into circle and pull circle tight.  Sl st into 3rd ch.

Row 2:  1 ch. Work 2 dc in each st to halfway, sl st into next st and work 3 ch, miss 1st ch and work a sl st into each remaining ch and into the same st on the head, 4 ch, miss 1st ch and work a sl st into each remaining ch and into the same st on the head, 3 ch, miss 1st ch and work a sl st into each remaining ch and into the same st on the head, work 2 dc into each st to the end.  Join with a sl st in ch.  Fasten off.

Body

Make a magic loop.

Row 1:  3 ch. Work 14 tr into circle and pull circle tight. Sl st into 3rd ch.

Row 2:  3 ch. 1 tr in same place as ch. Work 2 tr into each st around. Join with a sl st in 3rd ch.  Fasten off.

Beak

Make a magic loop.

Into circle work 3 ch and 1 tr.  Fasten off.  Join yarn in circle and work 3 ch and 1 tr.  Pull circle tight and fasten off.

Wing (Make 2)

Make a magic loop.

Row 1:  Work 2 ch and 2 htr into circle.  Pull circle tight but don’t join.  Turn.

Row 2:  2 ch, 1 htr in same place as ch, 2 htr in each of next 2 sts, 1 htr in top of ch.  Turn.

Row 3:  2 ch, 1 htr in same place as ch, 1 htr in next st, sl st in following st, 2 ch, 2 htr in next st, sl st in next st, 2 ch, 1 htr in each of remaining 2 sts.  Fasten off.

Legs

Join yarn to body.

6 ch, miss 1 ch, 1 sl st in each of next 2 sts, 3 ch, miss 1st ch and work a sl st in each of next 2 sts, sl st in same place as last sl st from 1st claw, 3 ch, miss 1st ch and work a sl st in each of next 2 sts, sl st in same place as last sl st from 1st claw, 1 sl st in each st to body.  Sl st into body.  Fasten off.

Join yarn 6 sts on from 1st leg and work another leg the same.

To Make Up

Weave in ends.  Attach the beak to the head as shown.  Embroider the eyes on just above the beak.

Sew the head to the body.

Stitch the wings to the body.
