Barbecue Apron for Teddy Bear Crochet Pattern

Welcome to my barbecue apron and utensils for a teddy bear crochet applique pattern. This is another pattern in my teddy bears picnic blanket series. When finished, the crochet apron applique will look like this.

Barbecue Apron for Teddy Bear Crochet Pattern 

Abbreviations 

Materials Used 

Size

Large apron not including straps (Using 8 ply wool)

10.5cm x 8cm or 4” x 3”

Medium apron not including straps (Using 4 ply crochet cotton)

6.5cm x 6cm or 2.5” x 2.25”

Apron

23 ch.

Row 1:  Miss 2 ch and work 1 hdc in each st to end.  Turn.

Row 2:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 3:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in each st to end.  Turn.

Row 4:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 5:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in each st to end.  Turn.

Row 6:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 7:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in each st to end.  Turn.

Row 8:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 9:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in each st to end.  Turn.

Row 10:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 11:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined hdc over last 2 sts. Turn.

Row 12:  2 ch, work a joined hdc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in each st to last 2 sts, a joined hdc over last 2 sts.  Don’t fasten off.

Neatening Row

1 ch, work 1 sc in each st around sides and bottom back to the top.

Work about 10 ch for 1st strap.  Fasten off.

Join cotton to other side of top.

Work about 10 ch.  Fasten off.

Pocket

16 ch.

Row 1:  Miss 2 ch and work 1 hdc in each st to end.  Turn.

Row 2:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in each st to end.  Turn.

Row 3:  2 ch, work 1 hdc in each st to end.  Don’t fasten off.

Neatening Row

Work 1 sl st in each st down 1st side, 1 sc in each st along bottom and 1 sl st in each st up other side.  Fasten off.

Barbecue Fork

Stem

7 ch.

Miss 1st ch and work 1 sl st in each st to end.  Fasten off.

Fork Part

8 ch.

Miss 1st ch, work 1 sl st in each of next 3 sts, sl st into next st and through the point of the stem, sl st in each st to end.  Fasten off.

Handle

4 ch.

Miss 1 ch and work 1 sc in each st to end.  Fasten off.

Egg Flip

Stem

7 ch.

Miss 1st ch and work 1 sl st in each st to end.  Fasten off.

Top Part

4 ch.

Row 1:  Miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each st.  Turn.

Rows 2-3:  1 ch, work 1 sc in each st to end.  Turn.

Row 4:  1 ch, work 1 sc in each st to end.  Don’t fasten off.

Neatening Row

Work 1 sl st in each st down 1st side, 1 sl st in 1st st along bottom, join to stem using a sl st in next st and through stem, sl st in each st to top.  Fasten off.

Handle

4 ch.

Miss 1 ch and work 1 sc in each st to end.  Fasten off.

Tongs

20 ch.

Work a joined dc in 4th ch from hook, 3 ch, sl st in same st as joined dc, work 1 sc in each st to last st, sl st in last st, 3 ch, work a joined dc in last st.  Fasten off.

To Make Up

Weave in ends.  Stitch pocket near the bottom of the apron leaving the top open.

Sew the handles to the ends of the barbecue fork and the egg flip.

Fold the tongs in half and stitch them together leaving the top open.

Stitch the apron to the teddy.  Put 2 of the barbecue utensils in the pocket.

And there’s the finished barbecue apron with utensils on the teddy bear. I’ve also made it in different sizes and colors.
